Player Editing Tutorial

I just played a WC in ICC 2008 to check out the editing possibilities. See for yourself guys. This thing works!

Do you want them to be kolpak? You alone can use them that way.

edit: The kent file right?
NO, the Sussex file in post 104.
Yep well Kolpak will sound good. :D

Plz make one great allrounder (Ideal Allrounder like 45+ FC ,OD bat avg and 20s FC and OD bowl avg)
one Batting allrounder (Kallis style)
and ONe great Opener keeper (Ala Gilchrist)

I will be very thankful to you. :D

What version is your save file? It says unrecognized file format.

??? may it is corrupt?(working fine on my PC though) Here is the re-upload
Any ways lets try on these files (which ever work on your PC)

Player1India
Msaad_Surrey(Essex county)
and the original Sussex file.

46 should be NZ. unless he's listed as 179 but i can't think for any logical reason why he'd be listed as a NZ kolpak.

the other thing could be that the birthdate code more than one player may turn up and you edited someone else.

full list of nationalities
43 = Aus
44 = Eng
45 = Ind
46 = NZ
47 = Pak
48 = RSA
49 = SL
50 = WI
51 = Ban
52 = Zim

178 = Aus (k)
179 = NZ (k)
180 = RSA (k)
181 = Zim (k)

Nah, when I edited Kallis and Ponting the numbers were right, but when I tried to edit southee, he didn't have a number in any of the nearby spaces. The row 1 column 6 was empty.

Also in regards to bowling and batting ability, I would think that there would be more variables than those that you've found. For example, there are some bowlers who are good at bowling but are very expensive while some aren't (Munday for example is/was very expensive in OD games) Also there are some bowlers who have really low OD averages but gigantic FC averages, so there may be a separate variable for that. Also international games may have a different variable? I think I remember reading once on the childish things forums something about some players been really bad at particular forms of the game, so he could create a Ramprakash-style player. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

More than one person does turn up for some people, but when I edited his age it was right, and anyway, everyone should have a number in that column to represent their nationality/player type. Maybe I'll try using ICC06.

Also, your excel file is really useful, however there's a problem when you get further into games as some regens are born after the cut-off date of your excel file, and so aren't editable. I know how the table works but I don't know how to extend it. If you could make a massive one it would be quite helpful.

Edit: I was able to edit some people in ICC06(guess who I edited in the photo below) but the numbers didn't turn up for me in ICC08, for the people I tried.

Edit2: Highest Batting Rating is 65535 which is 256 squared minus one.

Edit3: I have been able to edit most things, however, I'm not sure if the bowling things work all the time, I used it on Fulton and Ryder, yet Fulton seemed to take way more wickets; this might be because I made him a SLA, I'm not sure. Also when I changed Southee's bowling stats, he only took 1 expensive wicket in the game where I bowled him. I've got batting sorted, posted a few 800*+ scores, generally the only way to get out is to be run out (if you have batting talent at 65535). The player type edit doesn't seem to work however; on everyone I've edited they've had nothing in the 11th column of the 4th row. I did somehow change Fulton to an allrounder but I'm not completely sure how I did it. Also I don't really know how to apply this to counties, except to edit the people who are already in that county team.

And whenever I play using one of my edited players, their form decreases despite them getting massive scores :S

Edit4: We've basically got batting to a maximum. I keep on getting ridulous high scores, I just batted Jamie How on full aggression right through a three-day game; he finished unbeaten on 1578* from 998 balls, and had only played and missed once. Some players seem to be better at scoring high scores than others, despite having the same batting rating. I've got 5 players with full batting points, yet Jamie How and Tim Southee are the only ones to get consistently 'high' (relatively) scores. This may just be due to random odds though. We need to try and make an unbeatable bowler and catcher (I haven't tried editing anyone's wicketkeeping skills yet). It's kinda annoying living in New Zealand because I have to wait until the next day before I can see what new posts have been made...

One more thing Anarchy can you look at my ICC 2008 file and see if the data is just like ICC 06 Ashes (Also plz edit Kurt White in to level 6 batter if you can)

i dont have ICC 2008

try putting the number in where it should be.

well if he is a level 255 batsman then i suspect he would be expected to get like 5000 runs every innings just to get average form. really a batsman at the peak of his career (late 20's) should be a level 7 if he is world class. i'll experiment on some young players to see what the optimum level is when it comes to editing players. i'll probably give people like Godleman and Denly low-end level 4's. they should progress to level 6 when they peak.

also i dont think there is a catching skill. Monty Panesar catches just about everything in my games, so i doubt there is, ICC does miss out some things though, like run outs at the non-strike end.

as far as players performing differently in different forms of the game, its largely down to their preferences, an aggressive batsman will probably have a higher OD/T20 average than a defensive batsman even if the defensive guy is a better batsman.
