Interesting developments in the Congress

Long overdue, I'd say. The group that had assembled seems to be the best group that can revive the Congress. Ideally, these guys seem more presentable than some current ministers and I wouldn't mind seeing them in power.

Bit surprised that this thread saw no traction during the recent Maharashtra crisis. I, for one, felt the crisis was totally unavoidable.

What baffles me the most- BJP did settle for a Shiv Sena CM afterall. If that's what they wanted to do since the very beginning, why deny Udhhav Thackerey's party the post after the election results of 2019? That said, I feel Uddhav did admirably well in his stint as the state's CM, something I admit, I didn't expect.

I also wanted t speak of the conduct of Bhagat Sing, the state's governor, he has been acting unconstitutionally of late. For e.g, swearing in the Fadnavis govt at the stroke of midnight, calling for a floor test out of the blue. Any other governor would have called for snap elections given the turmoil in the state. That might have been the best for Maharashtra.

This is the same BJP party that mocked Congress for giving away CM post to HD Kumaraswamy with 37 seats in Karnataka assembly in 2019 while Congress had 80 seats. They said congress with highest seats among two bowed down to small party like JDS and that they didn't have self respect and all.

BJP set to get its choice in terms of President as well as Vice-President. Seems like the Tribal leader Murmu will become India's Prez. I personally feel they missed on a big opportunity in terms of destroying the Congress here. Sharad Pawar could have been nominated- this would have definitely broken the UPA alliance and further NCP strategies would have been aligned with the Centre/BJP.

Not sure whether they have a vice-prez nominee in mind at the moment. But in all honesty, these two positions are a complete waste of the taxpayers monies. Since, these positions do not have any executive powers whatsoever, it hardly matters whosoever becomes the Rubber Stamp.

Perhaps a Constitutional overhaul is the need of the hour here.

Is it just me or the furore over the emblem design seems unwarranted? So what if the lions are now roaring?

Nah, I too feel the furore is completely baseless!

Designs are meant to change over a period of time. I like the look of lions, seem more aggressive and that gives out a pretty strong message that we aren't someone who can be messed aorund with.

In reality, if you were to have 3 lions together, they are bound to bare their fangs. Completely irrational debates taking place in the country over this one!

So, we will have a new President today!

Seems elections are underway for what seems like a one-sided affair unless someones decided to defy the national party. Would be fun if that happens and Yashwant Sinha trumps the Adivasi leader Murmu.

Btw, The NDa just announced the Veep candidate and I was like- WHO?

Lol at what happened in Bihar. 100 bucks says the new coalition will wither away too in time. It has become a joke and in the end it's only the common man who will suffer.

From Reddit:
Without sounding political, I think the days of petrol price in double digits are permanently over. It appears that the general public have accepted that it's never coming down. There's little to no incentive then to bring it down. We have gotton accustomed to it
I resonate with this feeling. I mean if I was incharge of regulating fuel prices, even I would hesitate to bring it down simply because the public seems to have adjusted themselves to it. Why fix something that isn't broken?

They WILL go down to double digits. Just few months before the 2024 elections. Mark my words.

They WILL go down to double digits
Okay, maybe like 99. But never back to pre-covid levels.

Plus, Ram Mandir ought to be ready by that time too. That's a sure shot win.

Yeah that the sad state of affairs of India. And the worst part is, there is no dominant figure in the opposition to stand up and gain people's trust at a nation-wide level.

Judging from state election results, an opposition alliance seems a sensible option? With each state left for only the strongest opposition party to compete in (AAP v BJP in Delhi/Punjab, AITC v BJP in West Bengal etc)

Said opposition has it’s head buried in the sand though. They’re trying to appeal to every demographic and in the process failing to win anyone.
