Why on earth did shan bowl that seocnd over rather than some pure bowler? Its good that this is pre-season, sohum should be able to iron out these issues.

He bowled it because he's listed as fast bowler and the sim prefers fast bowlers to fast mediums when opening the bowling. Which begs the question, what kind of batting all-rounder is a fast bowler, also?
