Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

I think PES is a game which hasn't come onto the next-gen as well as people had hoped. Now you can check back before Xbox 360's and PS3's and see that I was, infact, much a PES fan. PS2-wise, it was a fantastic game, beat FIFA over the head many a time. Mainly because it felt "free," and didn't have the confinds that FIFA had on it.

Now, some games haven't ported over to the next-gen as well. I feel PES is one of these. Obviously its each to thier own when it comes to anything. Keeping it cricker related, some will think EA is the better, some will think Codies did a better job. Who is to argue with them? No one because its personal choice.

I had another razz on it last evening, and i'm still not enjoying it. I agree the "flow," of the game is ok, but in my opinion, PES has lost its way. PES used to be a game which used to excite me, every game being differn't. But, from the 10 or so games i've played, and the shoddy few games i've witnessed online, PES needs to go back to the drawing board and rethink thier ideas.

I think the hostility in this thread is amusing, because, and i'm probably at fault for my earlier post, its all personal opinion. Would we argue as such for a cricket bat? No, because we all understand its up to the individual.

Please, guys, no more of this Next Gen thingy. A good game has nothing to do with being "Next Gen". Games can be good without next gen and next gen games can be pretty poor. It isn't really a right way to compare / recognise games.

But if the developers don't decide to boost their game to next gen, then the gameplay and features of the game should be first rate. And for some reason PES is going backwards in some areas.

God, just get PES5, add awesome graphics and animations, then you may have the perfect game! And the menus!!!!!!!!!! OH dont get me started on the freaking menus. My local Chinese shop menus make more sense than PES's menus.

Well I am going to be able to play the full game in a few minutes time so hopefully I should have some kind of liking to it.

I remembered the other day that I did play PES2008 quite a bit, dunno why I thought I didnt :/

I've just got home, opened the wrapper and thought to myself "Why oh why did I buy it,"

And you know what, its alright, its better than the demo. My concerns as i've mentioned earlier are still there, and i've not proper sat down to myself and played it. Hoping that the Master League can get me addicted. The last game of Konami's I bought was PES6 I believe on the PS2, and I was addicted as hell!

Simbazz added 4 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

One additional thing I want to know is, how do i get the squads updated?

MY PES2009 REVIEW!

I played the full game for 2-3 hours now and I know many of you will say its not enough but imo it is, I'm not going to review this game in comparison to FIFA but possibly in comparison to other PES titles.

GAMEPLAY

The demo showed us gameplay which was similar to PES5, the full game however it just felt like PES2008, this is my honest opinion. I was convinced that I was playing 08 once again the way the players run, shoot and pass just felt extremely robotic....yes this is the first time I have called PES robotic. It's as if the ball and the player in control of the ball are one, theres no life in the ball.

What I mean is the game still has that "ice skating" feel to it stupidly quick turns and shuffles which just don't happen in any kind of football. I don't see how they managed to give us PES5 in the demo then PES2008 in the full version. I don't have much else to say about the game, it doesnt feel like football more like ice hocky the robotic annimations, the fact you can just "shuffle" your way past defenders at a stupid pace, also the fact that nearly every player is able to strike the ball like Adriano on PES6.

On the subject of shooting it seems a bit more improved but then at times it feels the same. I think what makes me think its different is that long range shots don't always go on target if you know what I mean.

May sound as if I am being biast but I am certainly not, it just felt like playing an un-complete game imo. Even though I have only played it for three hours or so it doesnt take a genius to sum up the gameplay, playing the game more wont change how it plays. If I had to describe PES2009 gameplay breifly it would be "arcade football".

GRAPHICS & MISC

The graphics in cut scenes are pretty impressive and matches in the rain look good. I am judging the graphics on how they look whilst I am in a match, nothing to special there definatly not next-gen and far from next-gen. I like the net physics on this game feels good to score a goal in them.

I played the Champions League mode got to the finals then my friend had to go work, I was playing as Chelsea and to my suprise they werent licenced.....whats that about? One other thing that was really ticking me off was the sound of the ball, what the hell is that about, sprint down the wing it sounds like somebodys heartbeat.

Theres not much else to say about the gameplay and graphics, but imo its not a complete game I was shocked when I played it, was expecting a good game as many people with the full game told me it was a big improvement on the demo, but its just PES2008 if not worse (gameplay wise not features wise).

I always get addicted by the Master League, but it wears off and then I'm bored because there's not enough to do off the pitch. I really can't see myself getting bored of Fifa 09 PC anytime soon, especially when I can get my hooks on Creation Master 09!

My question may have been missed but alas, i'll ask once again.

When will the roster update be available? Sick of Manchester United having Saha and AC Milan not having Sheva.

What system are you on?

This will update the Rosters until Konami's official update in early November.

I've just noticed a nice new little addition which is very handy. You can now actually save entire highlights packages at the end of games which is a very nice little feature as i've just had an absolute classic of a CL final as Everton vs Madrid. 2-1 down with 4 minutes to play on Top Player so I bring James Vaughan on for Saha who was carrying an injury (surprise surprise). With his first touch he equalizes with a 6 yard tap in and with his second touch he smashes a volley into the top corner from the edge of the box to win me the match. Epic comeback. I'm really enjoying PES09 and I haven't even started Master League yet.

Anyone want an online match on the PC tonight?

Just been on for the first time. First game was a 6-1 drubbing, I was all over the place, the second I won 1-0 against a Brazilian, and it was very laggy, and the third was an absolute corker, 2-1 to me with a last minute breakaway by Yossi Benayoun, slotting it home nicely from 18 yards.

Anyway, some good news. Looks like KONAMI have noticed the bugs in BAL with corrupted saves..

We are aware that the problem exists, and are happy to report that a patch for
the PC version will be coming out approximately by the end of the week to

In the meantime, we can propose the following temporary solution:

Please lower the resolution of the game to 1280*720 or below, and there should
