Puddle Mafia 02 - Game over - Sedition wins - 3rd Party Win

Night 2

It is now night. No more posting. Writeup to follow. Roles can be submitted once it is posted.

----------

With the onset of night the temperature dropped dramatically. Suspicion fell scattered like the sleeting rain, but upon the wet pavements it failed to settle. Though many felt they knew their enemies, it was their friends they had still yet to decipher.

Was he merely legend? Did he even exist? His pale features highlighted his hatred of the sun, but for now he remained hungry only for resolution.

He would set out tonight, hoping for more information than he had previously gathered. The shadows were his friend, his eyes were his tools, his footsteps were forever silent.

For each and every member of Duckton, night always brought fear, perhaps tonight they would come to know their foes. Maybe tonight they would know the true scale of the threats that lurked in the darkest corners.

With no majority reached, there has been no lynch

It is now Night 2. You have 24 hours to submit your role.

Ah you're joking? I've literally just come back from my Nans. Would have voted extension as well.

Day 3

This town was almost his, he knew he was close to succeeding where others had failed. His mask was in place. He was surely untouchable.

He headed out into the night, his unmarked car giving him the anonymity he needed to carry on his investigations. When he got there he found nothing. He waited all night, but his target never showed. His suspicions grew with each hour until finally an alert crackled from his radio. The description matched, someone had proven his innocence for him, he was not going to be able to question him.

He had his suspicions and began tracking his target. The town had barely an inkling he even existed. He was barely an echoed footstep in the dark of night. He was married to silence and he was sure tonight he would find out the truth. He maintained his distance from the suspect as he always did. Suddenly a cold shiver ran down his spine. She had given him the slip, he'd been tracking the wrong person. It must have been when she went into the newsagents. She'd switched her jacket with someone. It was his last thought as the .44 caliber bullet crashed into the back of his skull. If he wasn't quite so dead, he'd have been impressed.

Abhas is dead, he was Tracker, Town Aligned.

He had hoped his return to Duckton could be positive. He wanted so desperately to save lives. Despite his best intentions, he found himself lying in bed. He didn't know why she had been so interested in him, but it hadn't taken him long to stop caring. Her touch was subtle, gentle and soft. She seemed too good to be true. His initial plan had ebbed away with the time. He didn't try and fight it, and before long he drifted off to sleep. His arms cradling his new lover. His dreams were peaceful as he lay smiling. He was too tired to hear her slip away into the night. Her work was done. It was later still when he partially awoke to the sound of the bedroom door handle turning. He smiled to himself as his eyes attempted to focus. "Come and get back into bed" he mumbled with a peaceful hum. The dark figure slowly walked towards him as his eyes began to regain their composure. He barely had time to recognise his previous night's patient before two shots buried themselves into his skull. He had so desperately wanted to save lives, but in the end he was unable to save himself.

User2010 is dead, he was doctor, Town Aligned
.

It is now Day 3, with 5 alive it takes 3 to lynch.

He headed out into the night, his unmarked car giving him the anonymity he needed to carry on his investigations. When he got there he found nothing. He waited all night, but his target never showed. The first part makes sense. Zhuorb investigated someone who was roleblocked. Second part doesn't make any sense, but I guess he got clarification Varun was innocent. Not sure.

This is confusing. Abhas was the tracker, not the watcher as we had thought. What I don't understand is how did he die? Does the girl refer to the roleblocker somehow? I'm not sure.

And the last paragraph obviously refers to User2010's death. He was roleblocked as well, which means he was Zhurob's target as well last night.

We are deep in trouble. One mis-lynch, and the 2 mafia can bandwagon on and it's game over. We have to get the right lynch today.

FOS: Sediton and Themer

Zhurob is definitely the cop. He cleared Varun, so he should be town, so that just leaves them two. Unless Varun is the GF and he came up town.

----------

This was his town. It would always be his town. The history books were inked with the blood of past pretenders. He was determined to avoid the mistakes of those that perished before. Perhaps, this time, This was his town. It would always be his town. The history books were inked with the blood of past pretenders. He was determined to avoid the mistakes of those that perished before. Perhaps, this time, subtlety would prove more successful than brute force?

This is from the Day 1 write-up. I'm trying to figure out how Abhas died last night. Does the subtle thing refer to that the GF might have a one-time poison ability or something?

There's definitely two mafia. A man and a woman, going by the write-ups.

Meh. Abhas showed up town, and he is dead.
If Varun is not GF, 2/3 mafia are in Themer, Sedition and Papa_Smurf.
FOS:Papa Smurf for starting bandwagons yesterday.

Well I need to come clean about User's death, I shot him last night believing that he was mafia.

I'm Overeager Vigilante, town aligned. Every night I have to target someone.

I targeted User both nights, reason for the first was for the last game when User, as mafia, made a bogus Priest claim that could be tested, then said he was bored and subbed himself out deep into the game. Not a tactic I appreciated.

I wasn't sure if I was blocked by the mafia roleblocker, so my calls for the doc to claim if blocked were intended to confuse them and keep them from killing me last night, which worked, but backfired with my miskill. The other possibility if the doc was blocked and didn't claim, was that User was GF and had a one-time kill protection on the first night.

Last night I was convinced he was mafia after looking back over his posts, so I went for him again, knowing I couldn't be blocked a second time if that was indeed the case.

So now we're looking at:

Zhuorb - Cop
Sedition - Overeager Vig
Varun - Vanilla/Godfather
Themer - ?
Papa Smurf - ?

FOS: Themer and Papa Smurf one, if not both of you are definitely mafia.

As for the write-up

1. Godfather? "His mask was in place. He was surely untouchable". This implies Varun I feel.

2. Zhuorb targeting either Abhas or User since their innocence was confirmed by their death. The target didn't show, so I think it must be User since he was being visited by the Prostitute.

3. Abhas tracking the Prostitute it seems? His suspicions remained on Themer, so there's a good chance that's who was being tracked.

4. Prostitute visiting User, then me coming to kill him.

Yeah, I have to attempt to kill every night. If we no lynched today though, then the mafia can roleblock me while taking out Zhuorb and take the win. So no matter what, we have to lynch mafia today.

If we lynch mafia, then I still have to attempt to kill the final mafia for the win, though the GF could have a one-time bulletproof protection. If I hit town again and the mafia succeed in their kill, which I can't see anything stopping, then we lose with 1 town and 1 mafia remaining tomorrow.

----------

and if we lynch the GF today, then I think the RB can still block me, whilst performing the kill on another town. Or block Zhuorb while killing me, though they risk me taking them out too.

Yeah, we're in pretty tight position now. After BKB died, I never could quite imagine that there would be another killer, but it seems there is. But it is also possible there is a vigilante.

Before posting my views on the night writeup, I see PD gave some hints on after-Day writeup as well so will post my views on them.

Was he merely legend? Did he even exist? His pale features highlighted his hatred of the sun, but for now he remained hungry only for resolution.

Only the vampire matches this description. 'His hatred of the sun' implies to me that he has a post restriction, and the only possibility therefore is Zhuorb. However, it doesn't go well with him being the confirmed cop. If he's a vampire cop, there's no reason he shouldn't claim since he isn't harmful at the lynch or lose situation. But at the same time, it is also likely that PD is trying some bastard-modding like Colin in the last game.

He would set out tonight, hoping for more information than he had previously gathered. The shadows were his friend, his eyes were his tools, his footsteps were forever silent.

Abhas, the tracker. Don't know why he was mentioned of all, though.

Now the night,

He headed out into the night, his unmarked car giving him the anonymity he needed to carry on his investigations. When he got there he found nothing. He waited all night, but his target never showed. His suspicions grew with each hour until finally an alert crackled from his radio. The description matched, someone had proven his innocence for him, he was not going to be able to question him.

Zhuorb investigating someone whose death was announced via the radio later, and thus confirmed the innocence. Zhuorb investigating Abhas fits this, so I feel Zhuorb is confirmed cop.

This is Abhas getting killed. He was tracking the prostitute, it seems. Don't know if 'he'd been tracking the wrong person' means anything substantial.

Self explanatory. User was roleblocker and killed by someone. So one of the kills was probably done by a vigilante or serial killer.

----------

Oh, so Sedition has claimed as the vig. I was right then, I guess. How does the first paragraph refer to me though? I know it mentions the godfather/mafia boss, but I don't think the rest is anything other than flavor.

I don't know if I should believe Sedition or not. His claim explains why there are 2 deaths, but if the mafia were behind both kills, it's not a risky claim to make.

I'm going to analyze the write-ups to see if I can find something, and then reveal my cards. The only person I trust right now is Zhuorb.

Same here, Smurf. I can't seem to trust any of you, except Zhuorb. Not because you seem to be mafia, but for precisely the opposite reason that all of you seem town but no one has been 'proved' to be. Sedition claim fits, but it is entirely possible that he is a serial killer/poisoner and vigilante is obviously the best claim. Smurf has seemed town, but his gunning for an unreasonable mass claim on the last day put me in doubt. Themer again has seemed town, but there's isn't anything convincing except his similar gameplay from the game he was town in. Since both of you haven't claimed yet, I will wait until you do.

It's becoming clear that almost all the players in this game have some sort of role. I guess I'm the only Vanilla Townie which gives me a unique 'role' in the game, but at the same time shows the 'pawns' don't hold much influence in this game. I am sure both Smurf and Themer have roles, but anyway let you guys claim first.

Oh, so Sedition has claimed as the vig. I was right then, I guess. How does the first paragraph refer to me though? I know it mentions the godfather/mafia boss, but I don't think the rest is anything other than flavor.

"His mask was in place. He was surely untouchable." Those sentences instantly made me think of you having the innocent result already. It could just be referring to the fact GF will come up innocent regardless though..

I don't think we need a mass claim, although it's actually not possible with only 2.5 hours left in the game. Anyway, I'm a Vanilla Townie. I feel it's the best to claim now since Zhuorb's sort of confirmed it, and besides I don't affect the game much at night. Or perhaps I do, and this is a lie, and I'm a town PR trying to avoid the mafia. Perhaps the watcher, or the doctor. Maybe...maybe not...the mafia would only have to come at me to know....I'm really trying to bluff, you see? ;)

I'm suspicious of User and Papa Smurf (just because he's been asking for a mass claim at the wrong moment), but I'd rather no lynch than lynch a town. And both User and Smurf, if town are solid players.

This post is strange though. Zhuorb in no way confirmed you were vanilla just because he had an innocent result. You said we don't need a massclaim, then proceed to make a claim anyway.

If you are vanilla, you should have stayed quiet, since Zhuorb confirming you as innocent means there's a good chance the mafia will target you as a confirmed player, and being vanilla, your job is to take the kill instead of a PR.

You obviously weren't attempting a bluff, since Zhuorb is confirmed cop, and our other two power roles are now dead.

Considering User went hard at you earlier saying that he's sure you're not town, and you flipped from going after User later when Smurf and I had, makes me think you knew he was town and didn't want to implicate yourself by participating in the lynch.

----------

Holding back on the lynch on BKB is something else I found suspicious. Since we started at day, it's unlikely that the mafia had met yet, so naturally you wouldn't want to lynch someone who could very well be your mafia buddy.

----------

and if I was third party, the game would be over with 2 town, 2 mafia and the third party, with myself and mafia winning.

The tracker went after someone who he was suspicious of last night. Abhas had a lynch on Themer throughout Day 2. The write-up suggested he was going after a woman, and as the write-ups have confirmed, the role-blocker is the prostitute. I'm certain Themer is the roleblocker.

Lynch: Themer

The innocent mask thing Sedition mentioned of the write-up makes sense, and it would fit Varun perfectly, being cleared by Zhuorb yesterday.

I'm the Vampire. When the mafia target me at Night, instead of dying, I join their cause. I'm currently Town aligned, and if Sedition is telling the truth, then he can knock Varun off tonight, and I won't get targeted.
