Puddle Mafia 03 - Endgame

Well that confirms the presence of a SK. As I said, there's a chance that he'll take one of them out for us if we keep them guessing :p Maybe Barmy switched it back onto Abhas, but the write-up seems as though he wasn't involved in that exchange, but in the cop's investigation instead? or the roleblocker?

Don't have time to go through it in more detail right now, but hopefully someone has a result on the SK or roleblocker and we might even narrow down both of them today.

Using the theory that it might be linked to PD's previous games, perhaps it's an OCD serial killer that kills on even nights?

Losing Colin as the BD is entirely unfortunate, but hey, someone nailed Abhas the GF for us. Probably the SK, and chance is that User's the one, but I'd consider Vigilante as well, be it User or anyone else if User turns out indeed to be the survivor. If he is there, I wouldn't have him claim though.

Now to the writeup -

The routes had never usually confused him, however he unwittingly found himself well off his chosen course. Though unable to usually tend to himself, tonight he had no choice.

Suggests to me that the doctor was switched. The use of the word tend indicates that. Also, the last line suggests, after finally he tended to himself. This could mean that he ended up targeting himself or no one. I'm leaning towards the former. More on this, but in a separate post to prevent the who-were-switched-in-what-way confusion.

Confusing for some, but perhaps a boon for another?

More BD stuff I guess, but it shows someone was saved by the switching. But who? The description of Colin's killing shows, however, that the mafia weren't confused and their intention was to kill Colin only. Again, in the last description, the SK/Vigilante's actions seemed perfectly intentional, and not misplaced, so I'm confused by this.

He worked so hard for his position, he put in the hours and did the overtime. He wanted to continue his investigations, but meddling forces seduced his plans to submission.

Cop roleblocked by mafia. No switching indicated, so I'd say the mafia know the cop. Shall he better claim?

The last two, Colin and Abhas getting killed respectively. Nothing else in the description seems to catch my attention.

His previous work had already derailed potentially successful investigations. He would not get a second chance.

This, is incredibly confusing. The first line indicates cop's investigations derailed by the BD, but the second indicates a authoritative tone not so much of a cop, but of mafia. Also, on first glance it suggests that they would block Colin (no 'second chance'), but the other parts of the writeup suggest it is not the case. It is possible that the mafia have a rolecop though.

All in all, I believe this writeup has several important clues and most importantly we can deduce to an extent who Colin switched last night. In another post, I'll list the possible permutations (not many).

Besides, I almost believe Zhuorb to be town now. Abhas is a smart player, so he might have caught hold of the reverse-psychology thing Colin (and me when I said Aditya won't target you), and targeted Colin. He also kept distance from Colin, so I'd say there is another mafia among the people supporting Colin, which would maximize the distance between mafia members themselves, and third, if there, in the people against Colin/neutral to Colin.

*reverse psychology thing Colin tried

I doubt User even submitted his night role if he had one, he's going through a tough time.

Gah, I'm too bored and hungry to post an analysis of the write- up, but from what I decipher, the SK orthe busdriver knocked Abhas out. Interesting to see Aditya not dying, maybe barmyarmy switched Aditya and Abhas, and the SK killed him or something?

Interesting night.

His previous work had already derailed potentially successful investigations. He would not get a second chance.

Definitely talking about Colin, the BD, plus the fact that he had meddled in previous investigations. (Indicates the presence of a cop/watcher/tracker).

The routes had never usually confused him, however he unwittingly found himself well off his chosen course. Though unable to usually tend to himself, tonight he had no choice.

Well it clears out a few things the doctor (Aditya) cannot protect himself, but due to a BD in play, he either protected himself or no one at all.

He worked so hard for his position, he put in the hours and did the overtime. He wanted to continue his investigations, but meddling forces seduced his plans to submission.

Possibly another investigator or the same, seems like he wasnt able to use his role. Either the mafia roleblocked him, or the BD was in act again. Use of the word "meddling forces"

Next paragraph is the mafia killing Colin, but in the second death paragraph it says:

The town would now know hope was checking out.

Is this possibly indicating a town vigilante?

Is User still playing?

Surprised to see that only half the players have posted today, though of course I don't expect User to be thinking about the game at all right now. I noticed Manly lurking the thread at daybreak, still admiring your handiwork perhaps? :spy Anyway my thoughts on the write-up..

Under the protection of darkness anarchy and chaos met. Nothing had prepared the rotten town of Duckton for such brutality. Sensible pleas fell on deaf ears. Creative solutions were ignored in favour of intuitive hunches. The grey and misty twilight that hugged the damp evening air was to be painted only by the flowing red of sacrifical victims. Those that had previously spun the wheel of fate and gained insight, had remained silent with their knowledge. For some, their silence was to prove fatal.

He worked so hard for his position, he put in the hours and did the overtime. He wanted to continue his investigations, but meddling forces seduced his plans to submission.

The taste of success still tinged his lips just as the smell of blood still stained his hands. He had nothing but contempt for these lost souls of Duckton. He would claim all that he saw and covet all that he could not. He wanted nothing more than the death of anyone that opposed him. He was wise and experienced in the game of manipulation and tonight he seized the opportunity to rid himself of his potentially greatest threat. He stalked his target with a deft step and narrowed eyes. He watched from afar as his future victim finished his rounds, cashed up his till and made his way out of the depot. It was only a short walk home from here, so time was brief. He cut down a side alley and waited patiently. It only took one bullet to drop his target, but as he stood over the lifeless corpse he let go with two more shots. Whether they were for security and satisfaction not even he really knew.

Barmy is dead. He was the bus driver. Town Aligned.

A nights work completed, it was time to head back to his base of operations. Business and pleasure had always been difficult to distinguish between for a man with such dark intentions. He felt as though everything had gone perfectly. Perhaps that caused him to let his guard down, maybe that was why he now felt the familiar touch of cold steel pressing against the back of his head. He turned around as quickly as a man in such a position can, and had only time to smile knowingly at his killer before the fourth bullet of the night crashed through yet another fallen body. There was no need for a second shot. The man was gone as quickly as he arrived. The town would now know hope was checking out.

Abhas is dead. He was the Godfather. Mafia Aligned.

Chaos and anarchy had indeed reigned in union tonight. The morning would bring a new day, new chances, and new choices to be made. In amongst it all, for one member of Duckton, it would perhaps be a sobering experience...

1st - Seems to be referring mostly to Barmy - "Sensible pleas fell on deaf ears". The last line is perhaps the most interesting, remaining silent with his knowledge. The way Barmy was acting yesterday looked like mafia/SK/PR to me, and I felt if he actually was a PR and was so sure of being targeted, then he probably should have claimed and revealed who he had switched Night 1.

2nd - Referring to Barmy again? Certainly seems to be referring to the BD. Maybe Zhuorb with his Miller claim, but if he's not getting a second chance, that would suggest someone caught him venturing out, so will have to wait and see.

3rd - This one wasn't as clear to me on my first read through, I thought it was probably the Doc protecting himself, but Varun's theory with the BD involved is plausible. The paragraph with Abhas being killed doesn't give any clues to a Bus, but doesn't confirm/deny either way.

4th - Not really clear on that, seems like confusion for town and boon for mafia/sk.

5th - Must be the cop, but still unsure whether Barmy was involved or the roleblocker. It should be clear to whoever it is though, depending on whether they got a result or not. If blocked, then yeah I think they need to claim since the mafia will also know.

6th - Mostly flavour it seems with Abhas killing Barmy. The last part about firing an extra two shots is more a mafia trait and the kill being personal suggests Abhas targeted him specifically.

7th - No hint that the BD was involved here, but can't rule it out at this stage. I feel like the mention of it being "the fourth bullet of the night" is some kind of clue to something, but can't be sure.

Thedon makes a good point about the SK in the first game being OCD and restricted to killing on certain nights. I had the option of when to kill last game as the SK, and since PD was a little annoyed that I exercised that option every night, I can see him placing that restriction back on. With that said, we still have to take into consideration that he might be able to kill every night from now on.

Yeah Manly's been lurking basically the whole time since he took over for pallu. Was he lurking so much on the first day, or actually posting when he was the Doublevoter?

@BKB: If you reckon there's a vigilante I guess that would rule out the third party serial killer?

Not sure I can come to many conclusions from the write-up just yet that haven't been mentioned. Other than half the players are inactive.

Sorry, edited my post instead of reposting, my mistake. I didn't edit anything though, just added:p.

I'm taking it that the cop was role-blocked because of the word seduced.

----------

Also, because of that, I believe that the cop claims, because the mafia already know who he is.

The use of the word 'seduced' indicates to me it was the roleblocker. But as you said, the cop will know so if he was blocked he must claim.

Also PD, can you update the links of the Night 1 and Night 2 writeups in the first post?

Time to come open then. I am the cop, and I was roleblocked. I investigated Sedition on night 1 and he came mafia. Hence, I was pressing for his lynch. The fact that Colin, a known townie should also confirm it.

Defence please Sedition. Lynch: Sedition
