Ramadan Mubarik!!!

They do eat JJ3, at like 5 in the morning and from about 5:30 in the evening and all night. They just fast during the day, and that is the tough part, as Ramadan moves closer and closer to summer.

Thats insane. I would faint if I didn't eat for 1-2 days!

Yeah just as zorax said...we fast from about 5.30 in morning to about 7 in evening and than we can eat for about 10 hours...than we start again and we do it for 30 days (or 29)...

Oh. Well, that's not quite as impressive. How about trying the not eating at all thing?

I bet you raid the cupboards when it comes to 7 in the evening.

you try it yourself mate...it is quite hard actually...waking up at 4.30 every morning for 30 (29) days and than i have PE lessons as well and also have to walk to school about 1.5 miles...so...

That would result in death, James...

It is quite tough, especially in places like UAE in the heat. And imagine, washing your face when your are dying of thirst or hunger...immence discipline needed. My friends try not to attend PE for the first time (IF they don't want to play during Ramadan, it is perfectly fine. If they do want to play, it is completely their decision and they aren't being forced, so if they faint, it's their fault :p), but in their second or third week, they usually play when they get used to it.

Our school had a 20 km sponsored walk today, which I managed to complete - woohoo! Anyway, the few muslims in our school decided not to fast today. I just want to ask - is that possible? I mean choosing which days to fast ?

I think so. I mean, if you break your fast, you can always start again the next day. Atleast that is what my friends used to do when I was in 6th grade. Wouldn't fast somedays.

Yep, If you cant do it, than its better not to than to. A person like me, who is 14 has a choice, like Im going to Sudbury tommorow, a 5 hour drive (School Trip) and were staying there for 2 days, I wont fast the second day, cause it'll be hard.

Just an FYI, Muslims do not have to fast during Ramadan under the following circumstances:

Children before the onset of puberty are not required to fast. However, if puberty is later than is normally expected, fasting becomes obligatory for males and females after a certain age. According to the Qur'an, if fasting would be dangerous to someone's health, such as a person with an illness or medical condition (this can include the elderly), that person is excused. For example, diabetics and nursing or pregnant women are not usually expected to fast; but they are encouraged to feed a needy person instead. According to hadith, observing the Ramadan fast is not allowed during menstruation period for women; still they (women) must make up these days they didn't fast during their menstruation period. Other individuals for whom it is usually considered acceptable not to fast are those in battle and travelers who intend to spend fewer than ten days away from home. If one's condition preventing fasting is only temporary, one is required to make up for the days missed after the month of Ramadan is over and before the next Ramadan arrives. If one's condition is permanent or present for an extended period of time, one may make up for the fast by feeding a needy person for every day missed.

Well my fastings are going fine as usuall , the day passes pretty easily without any kind of trouble, like 1 hour and 15 mins to go till i can eat :).
