Love the way the Windies team do the Gangnam style steps!

Arsenal SGL-7.62x39mm

basically an AK47, only difference that this is semi-automatic and not full auto.

my collection is growing nicely, into the double digits now

Just opened it up, felt like Christmas.

Total package here, not bad for $170.

The entire rifle and accessories are encased in cosmoline, to protect it from rusting when stored in arsenals the last 5 decades.

Here is the original oil can, you can see how much cosmoline is on there.

The ammo pouch:

Stamp on the rifle: the star means it was made in the Tula armory, dated 1933.

and this is the round it shoots. I placed it next to a AA battery and a .22 round for comparison

7.62 x 54r . It's a rimmed cartridge like the .303 British, a little bit smaller. Comparable to a .300 caliber.

Such a lovely collectors piece mate :) Just love all the extras it comes with. It really looks like a piece of history.

Also, you're such a redneck haha *spots the Texas branded bobblehead thingy* :p

It's in excellent condition meaning it was probably not a frontline gun. Oh well, it was still issued and used in WWII by some poor commie bastard. Pretty darn cool.

Checked the rifling and it's lightly used for a war gun. Been packed in cosmoline since. Pretty crazy to think that the last time it was fired was in WWII and the next shot it fires will be by me almost 70 years later in Texas.

What will the lucky creature be this time around? :p

Annoying thing about it is that the gun was designed for the bayonet to be attached and not removed.

So they sighted it in with the bayonet attached, I have to fix the sights to get it to shoot straighter without the bayonet on there.

Probably use the bayonet as a paperweight lol

The last three weeks of my life were important!

Seminars on numerous topics, projects, assignments, threat of attendance shortage and above all, had first kiss, with a ravishing girl;).
