Lynch is a Collective killing Method...Majority of the living players cast their vote to kill somebody .

If "No Lynch " gets Majority of the Votes then the day will end with no one Dying and game will preoceed to Night.

What is this lynch and no lynch thing, sorry but I've never watched or participated in one of the before.

Most of our number are town-aligned; but some among us are mafia linked. The mafia (scum works quite well as shorthand) has the right to kill one person (who naturally will be town) every day: and as soon as half or more of the players left in the game are mafia-aligned then they win (since its mathematically impossible for the town to lynch someone at that point). In order to try to balance this: every day we have a right to lynch someone. This is decided through a democratic vote (50% + 1 to lynch a person). "No lynch" is exactly what it means: and occurs if the town hit a deadline and still haven't voted by majority to lynch. It can be useful: by rule I don't like people going "no lynch day 1" to default since it helps kill discussion which is our only way of working out who the scum is. Its not a scummy action necessarily, but it allows the mafia to hide during day 1 and most likely get a free kill.

There are also "power roles" that people may have: which allow them to act at night. These can involve investigating someone to work out what alignment they are; protect someone from being killed during the night, block another player from using their night action etc - if you are one of those, that'll be on your role PM. The problem is that if you're the cop (the investigatory person), you can't just say "I'm the cop, so and so is scum" on day 2 since then you'll be gone on night 2: you need to try and lead the town towards lynching a certain person without being entirely open. That's assuming this game has a cop, we genuinely don't know since its a blind setup!

Anyway, I think it's not fine to directly go for a no lynch without any discussion. That being said it's obvious the setup must be having some powerful roles on the town side too.

I'd assume:
Town:

Doctor, Roleblocker, Cop and a Vigilante maybe?
3 vanilla townies. I think a Vigilante would make the game more town sided so there might be an SK.

And 3 mafias?

A godfather, RB and a goon?

@joejoe018 - The people above have explained pretty well. But, if you still feel lost, I can replace you with themusketeer. You can then follow the game and learn for the next one. Surely if we're getting to the point of either having newbie players or replacing people in, it might be a good idea to extend the deadline by 24 hours or so? It lets everyone get into the swing of the thing a little better...

Yup. No worries. I will give ample amount of time to the players to get used to this but they should post something atleast.

Reason: lynched me and is pushing for the extension of the day, which hardly makes a difference. But especially since he lynched me. (only one of the reasons is serious. Guess which.)

I don't see how an extension of the day "hardly makes a difference": it'll generate more discussion which gives us more information. Sure much of it will be useless early game stuff, but you never know... I'd argue that wanting the initial deadline is a bad thing, especially since around half of those in the game haven't posted and that includes two new guys who may not know how the thing works and may want to replace out. I'm not asking for no deadline; I'm asking that we don't end up with "soandso comes in for whatshecalled; btw town didn't come to a decision so no lynch." since that hurts the town since we get no meaningful information and allows for an almost guaranteed free kill from the scum. I suppose that it means that a cop could get some data but if the early analysis holds true that might be irrelevant anyway if they're insane or random - for those new, that means in order that their findings are reverse of the truth so still useful once that is discovered; and totally random so utterly worthless in reality.

The vote stands :P (it was a random vote; since everyone doing that helps generate discussion. Like this!! Its quite a common thing is most games of mafia around the internet to have a random voting phase)

It might be a good idea to explain acronyms and the like since this is the first game for a while and we have new people. I don't use them and use words instead so perhaps others could...

Also, Yash, could you please state your reasons for assuming the presence of a vigilante? I'm not entirely sure how it could fit into the theme - would like to hear your thoughts.

I'm just pointing out the possibilities but as I said in my previous post it's unlikely we've a Vigilant in this setup.[DOUBLEPOST=1418684299][/DOUBLEPOST]

Adding simply nothing towards the game and trying to pluck a suspicion out of thin air doesn't help anyone either.

We don't have any clue about the set-up but that doesn't stop us from having a discussion.

How you're sure that it'll be useless early game stuff? You have ideas about what this day will come to?

I don't know how much a random vote can create discussion as a person won't be having anything to defend himself with or even if he tries something he'll probably be taken advantage of by the scum the next day and we will end up having a less townie.
