I don't think current RCB squad has much firepower in bowling. They have to deal with Dilshan-Kohli.

Otherwise look at bowling option in the squad,

Charl Langeveldt or Johan van der Wath can't take place for 5th bowler as RCB can't drop Vettori or Dilshan or DeVilliers. 5th bowler might be someone from Indian domestic circuit, they can drop Kaif or Karthik.

Yeah basically they have completely got it wrong regarding the balance . Horrible bowling attack . No real Indian talent as well other than Mithun . Expected to concede 175 runs on an average basis .

Basic bowling strategy :

Zaheer , Nannes , Vettori - all 4 overs
Mithun - 4 overs or min. 3 - incase its a bad day for him
Kohli/Dillu - remaining 5 between them .

So , huge pressure on Mithun to deliver , otherwise Dilshan might end up bowling 4 overs and Kohli with 1 , which combined together is expected to result in RCB conceding 85 runs in 8 overs for a maximum of 1 wicket . Tough times ahead ...

I never questioned his ability to fit in the playing XI , i just said he din deserve the captain's armband . But yeah , i did see many posters questioning his place in the starting XI which is quite dumb given he is their only all rounder .

I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but 80% of Indian spinners can do the job Vettori does with the ball. I have never been impressed with him as captain either, especially in the shorter formats of the game. I have nothing but respect for Vettori - how he has transformed himself into a solid all-rounder for his country - but I just don't think he is a good fit for the IPL in general (that too as captain)
But I hope I am proven wrong. Bangalore is my second favorite team (maybe not so much now that Dravid, Uthappa etc are gone...but geographically for sure number 2 )

I would have given Zaheer a taste of captaincy. I have always found him to be a great potential leader.

I wholeheartedly agree. I certainly wanted him to be the captain, he has the potential to carry the burden of the entire team.

Vettori is a good choice too, but surely not the best one.

If I would have been Kumble, I'd have given Kohli some exposure as captain with myself giving instructions from Dug out.

Vettori doesn't have much capability as leader, especially in sub-continent. So Virat Kohli should have been named as skipper, so he can get more exposure as a captain. He might get Indian captaincy too in near future.

No, Vettori is a perfectly capable captain. It's just that NZ doesn't have the deep pool of players that other countries might have so Vettori had less to work with in a sense.

Bangalore looks like the team I'll be going for, mainly because of Vettori and AB. I wish Taylor had stayed in the RCB.
