Rugby World Cup 2011

fearsome tweak YES! That game has taken a couple of years off my life. Sets up a classic next week if the All Blacks can overcome the mighty Pumas.

Any team with that much possession and territory and can't even cross the line deserves to lose. South Africa were abysmal.

Haha, well the English team can give them a shoulder to cry on as they both pack their bags and head home.

Happy to get away with a win, the commentators were harping on about how we would struggle towards the back end having made all those tackles, but they hung tough. Pretty much knew we would not be able to hang on to the ball for 3 odd minutes to finish the game out, just not something we do.

Pocock was amazing, shows how much we missed him in the game against Ireland. Quade is a worry but too late to be making any big changes and Robbie won't make them anyway. Didn't help that we were in our half for most of the game.

Don't know how on earth SA lost tbh, although ref was pretty awful. Good on the aussies took advantage of it,they were pretty lucky but got the win which is what matters. Not too sure what to think of the ABs win, too much reliance on Weepu for my liking. Wouldn't be surprised at all if the Aussies beat us next week, hopefully its just a really good game.

I do hope for the sake of this country and the tournament that we win though, could turn pretty ugly if we don't.

I hope to god Barnes will start next week. I recall two of his kicks as soon as he came on that ???? all over Quade's put together, who seemed content knowing he could be Carter's replacement for the AB's next week anyway.

At the end of the day, whether it's Aus, NZ or the underdogs Wales lifting the cup, I'll be celebrating the fact that it's not Eng or Saf.
I'm predicting it's going to be an '87 replay with NZ vs. France in the final and Aus vs. Wales for 3rd, heard it here first.

That was probably the worst first five performance I've ever seen from a team that's gone on to win the match, he was absolutely shocking...

Cruden > Slade - I've posted it here several times including when Slade was first picked, His injury is a blessing in disguise.

ABs were pretty good imo. They dominated the game, and the Pumas wouldn't have even scored any points if it wasn't for a long range penalty, and their try in which two of our best defenders missed tackles.

Cruden in for Slade, Kahui in for SBW, and Dagg in for Mills. Have our three backs on the bench as Cowen, SBW, and Toeava, and in the unlikely situation that Cruden goes down injured bring on Cowen and move Weepu to first five.

Tbh I don't think Weepu had a great open field game, yes his goal kicking was great, but I think his general performance was only good. He still takes ages to pass the ball which is something that I can't understand with him and other halfbacks. I definitely wouldn't say we relied on him, possible with our goal kicking, but I don't know where the others are at with that.

Just remember Aussies, it's been longer since you've won on Eden Park than since we've won the World Cup (and you even lost to Ireland on it). ;)

Eden Park? Just another patch of dirt with some grass on it as far as I can tell :p

Cruden has always been the one for me too, Slade got a massive free pass into the side. I would have a wing combo of SBW and Kahui, SBW did enough on the wing against Argentina to convince me he should be there.

We got some stats on our side, ABs never beaten us in a WC and the team that beat the defending champions have gone on to win the WC :p

So after watching a few classic matches between Aus and NZ the past few days, I feel I'm mentally and emotionally prepared for a narrow loss.

If we're behind by 10 or more at any point, I can't see us making a comeback. On the other hand, if we manage any kind of lead, the AB's will chase it down unless we defend like we did last week until the final whistle.

Either way, there's plenty of history to be made for both sides and if I had to pick any team to knock us out, it would be NZ. I just wish this game was the final and Wales vs. France was for 3rd.

Who's fault was that for losing to Ireland. :p

The feeling over here is this is more or less the final, at least for the ABs. There's been very little talk about France and Wales. Definitely imo the winner of this will win the final.
