SA20 | Total domination by the now two-time champions!

The SA20 is just next month, and the squads are already out on cricbuzz, so I am unable to resist my temptations to make playing XIs for all teams. So here I am-

Joburg Super Kings
:saf: :bat: Reeza Hendricks
:saf: :bat: Wayne Madsen
:saf: :bat: Faf du Plessis :c:
:eng: :ar: Moeen Ali :os:
:saf: :arwk: Donovan Ferreira
:nam: :ar: David Wiese :os:
:wi: :ar: Romario Shepherd :os:
:saf: :bwl: Gerald Coetzee
:saf: :bwl: Lizaad Williams
:saf: :bwl: Imran Tahir
:saf: :bwl: Nandre Burger

I'm not sure if Madsen counts as overseas or local, but either way, JSK have enough quality locals to play just 3 overseas players in the XI. Their Bowling Attack looks strong now as Burger, Coetzee and Williams are all now South African International regulars. And Tahir is an icing on the cake. Wiese is a great overseas signing and so is Moeen Ali. It's a great side that could definitely win the competition.

Pretoria Capitals
:ire: :bat: Paul Stirling :os:
:eng: :ar: Will Jacks :os:
:saf: :bat: Rilee Rossouw
:saf: :bat: Colin Ingram
:saf: :wkb: Kyle Verreynne
:nzf: :ar: Jimmy Neesham :os:
:saf: :ar: Corbin Bosch
:saf: :ar: Eathan Bosch :c:
:saf: :bwl: Wayne Parnell
:eng: :bwl: Adil Rashid :os:
:saf: :bwl: Anrich Nortje

It is surprising to see Bosch as captain with Parnell and Rossouw in side. At least Cricinfo and Cricbuzz say so, but the SA20 site still shows Parnell as skipper. Anyway, they look quite a strong unit too with Migael Pretorius and Daryn Dupavillon on the bench as well. Jacks and Stirling is an epic opening pair.

Durban Super Giants
:saf: :wkb: Quinton de Kock
:saf: :bat: Matthew Breetzke
:wi: :ar: Kyle Mayers :os:
:sri: :bat: Bhanuka Rajapaksa :os:
:wi: :bat: Nicholas Pooran :os:
:saf: :bat: Heinrich Klaasen
:saf: :ar: Wiaan Mulder
:saf: :ar: Dwaine Pretorius
:saf: :bwl: Keshav Maharaj :c:

:saf: :bwl: Kyle Abbott
:eng: :bwl: Reece Topley :os:

DSG have solved their problem of having to bat Mulder at 5 last year due to presence of too many all-rounders, by signing Rajapaksa and getting Pooran in. The team looks solid now and has 6 bowling options + Batting up to 9. Keemo could replace Bhanuka if they wanted more bowling too. They have Subrayen and Dala on the bench.

MI Cape Town
:saf: :wkb: Ryan Rickelton
:eng: :ar: Sam Curran :os:
:saf: :bat: Dewald Brevis
:saf: :bat: Rassie van der Dussen
:eng: :ar: Liam Livingstone :os:
:saf: :ar: George Linde
:afg: :bwl: Rashid Khan :c: :os:
:eng: :bwl: Jofra Archer :os:
:saf: :bwl: Kagiso Rabada
:saf: :bwl: Duan Jansen
:saf: :bwl: Beuran Hendricks

One option for MICT with their lack of proper batters is to try Curran at opening as a hitter alongside Rickelton which enables the rest of the Top 6 to bat at their usual positions none or less. The batting feels a bit thin but the bowling is insanely strong with 7 proper bowlers + Livingstone and Brevis. To add more batting they can swap Hendricks/Jansen out for Grant Roelofson or Conor Esterhuizen (Or Banton, when Archer eventually gets injured)

Paarl Royals
:eng: :bat: Jason Roy :os:
:eng: :wkb: Jos Buttler :os:
:ire: :bat: Lorcan Tucker :os:
:saf: :ar: Wihan Lubbe
:saf: :bat: Dane Vilas
:saf: :bat: David Miller :c:
:saf: :ar: Andile Phehlukwayo
:saf: :bwl: Bjorn Fortuin
:saf: :bwl: Lungi Ngidi
:saf: :bwl: Tabraiz Shamsi
:wi: :bwl: Obed McCoy :os:

They have a set team but the 4th overseas slot could be rotated between Tucker and Fabian Allen based on their needs for a 6th bowler. They have players like Van Buuren, Adams and Yusuf on bench who got game time last season so the depth is there. They may be dark horses with that badass opening pair and a very quality bowling (that nearly looks like SA's white ball attack from 2021 without Rabada and Nortje)

Sunrisers Eastern Cape
:eng: :wkb: Adam Rossington :os:
:saf: :bat: Jordan Hermann
:eng: :bat: Dawid Malan :os:
:saf: :bat: Aiden Markram :c:
:saf: :bat: Tristan Stubbs
:eng: :ar: Tom Abell :os:
:saf: :ar: Beyers Swanepoel
:saf: :ar: Marco Jansen
:eng: :ar: Liam Dawson :os:
:saf: :bwl: Sisanda Magala
:saf: :bwl: Ottniel Baartman

Rossington likely to open again after his performance last season and the addition of Malan makes the top order even stronger. No need of Bavuma there, and instead they can play the talented AR Beyers Swanepoel at 7 and extend the batting till 9. Roelof will be missed but they will hope Dawson can make his absence less felt. No OS pacer due to the inclusion of Swanepoel and have Abell in the middle-order instead. Good side.

Starting tomorrow, I was completely caught unawares. Both these teams playing the opening match looked very good last season. Hoping playing the best players pays off

Some might blows from Pollard there. He still has got it.

Well, here's something I can post: there was a guy in the stands with a poster saying "PAARL do you want to see me KAAL"

A quick google search tells me kaal means naked.
