Ganguly's back in the team.So should he play and how effective is he?

Well whatever people say for me Saurav Ganguly will remain the second besr ODI batsman ever (till now) after Sachin Tendulkar.

Maybe he had lost form but he will remain a great batsman. Well inspite of his form he was the 3rd highest scorer for the clendar year 2004 in ODI's.

He hasnt played 300 matches yet and will be scoring his 10,000 th run.

His record speaks volumes of him.

Now that he is back (to form as well) I expect Ganguly to do well for team INDIA

Like he was in 97-99.
An agressive batsman who atleast hits a six in his innings & a very good bowler(remember Sahara Cup at Toronto).
Let Dravid captain for some time.

i dont like ganguly and i never have and quite possibly never will. however hes sort of in that same mold as jacques kallis in that hes a good batsman (kallis is better) but they can still do a really good job with the ball. it cant hurt to have an allrounder in the team as it saves the job of 2 players. i think thats the next step for the aussie test team (just thought i would bring australia into the post somehow) in that we need an allrounder and shane watson isnt anywhere close.

back to the point. id want him dropped but common sense suggests an allrounder

EDIT = As to the question of captaincy. If india had a really good captain like the really good teams have had, they would have been one of the best teams of the last decade. If you look at the top teams they all have superb captains. India still dont have that, its not in dravid and not in ganguly

I think he should be injected in brain fluid so he understands that there are 50 overs in an ODI match and a test match is unlimited batting.

Ganguly reminds me of the time I use to play Need for Speed HP2 and didnt know what key on the driving wheel changed the gears so I drove around in gear 1. I feel Ganguly is batting in gear 1 most of the times comes out and blocks it and trys to build an innings. He scored all those centruries opening the batting and backing himself rather than being defensive at the start. Thats what he needs to get back to.

His career is on the line. Getting out for 4 off 2 deliveries or a 50 off 100, if you were a selector which one would you choose? He can go aggressive once he finds form.

Ganguly is the best captain India ever had. He should be captain again. He made excellent decisions against Pakistan.

He just is having trouble he just made 51 against Sri lanka that means hes back in form.... i told you all he will return with a big bam...and plus he was really nevorous to play in the indopak series

He was playing an anchoring role. If someone scores a 50 of hundred balls, it means he has to last tll the 35 - 40 over, not just score a fifty and get out.
I feel Dravid should remain captian. If he is not made captian now we will never see him as captian. Both Ganguly and Dravid are of the same age. By the time Ganguly would retire, Dravid would retire as well. And to be honest, Ganguly has an attitude problem. He does not show the slightest of sportman spirit. Dravid is way better, as a player and a person.
