Kenya vs. West Indies
Kenya has opened their account in the India Sixes with a win over core team the West Indies with Steve Tikolo and Collins Obuya batting Kenya to a victory.

The West Indies won the toss but it didn't look right with danger man, Chris Gayle falling for only two from a Elijah Otieno delievery which went to the captian and West Indies was 1-2. Denesh Radmin came into bat with no national experience but it didn't worry as he opened his account with a four and a three.

Collins Obuya then made Dwayne Bravo swing and completey miss with the second wicket falling. Darren Sammy started struggling with two dot balls in the third and fourth ball before a wonderful six helped the West Indies out on bat. Thomas Odoyo then continue the Kenya domination as he got rid of Darren Sammy for 15 in a good over for Kenya.

Steve Tikolo then went on the charge with the first wicket getting rid of Edwards with David Obuya taking a wonderful catch. Two ball laters and finally Denesh Radmin had to fall for 15 to end the innings for the West Indies and for Kenya they now needed 52 to win.

Kenya got off to a slow start with Steve Tikolo and Collins Obuya only scoring seven before a four got the game moving. Chris Gayle game didn't get any better in his over with Kenya keeping the run rate going which did involve a six to put Kenya ahead after two overs with the upset coming into play.

Collins Obuya started to control the strike with his shot selection keeping the game and of course would win the game for Kenya. The game then ended with Steve Tikolo taking a shot from Darren Sammy bowling and pulling it for four to end the game and take points in this Group D match.

This is not the first time they are doing it though, Kenya did the same in 1996 World Cup :D

West Indies are known to throw surprises actually. WI lost a 1 day match against Ireland back in 1969. We had the likes of Lloyd, Walcott, Foster, Butcher and Shepherd in our ranks.

Kenya did it many times remember wc 2003 were they qualified for semi-finals.

Scotland vs. India
In one of the higher matches of the tournament, India have opened their account with a 29 run win over Scotland to ensure that them and Sri Lanka will get points in the opening tournament of the season.

Virender Sehwag started to go on the attack early with the agression in his shots which did include two boundaries in the last balls. Rohit Sharma also tried to join in the fun but unlike Sehwag he missed time a shot and it went long and just going into John Blain hands for only 13.

Yusuf Pathan did it succesfully with the first ball being a six before Virender Sehwag went into smashing mode with two big sixes off a Ryan Watson over which had 21 runs being produced.

Yusuf Pathan then went one too far with a swing an a hit on the wickets to end his innings. Dinesh Karthik then went next ball with an LBW onto the pads and the shock was showing with India in shock. They couldn't believe what they saw and they were lucky that Gordon Drummond didn't get a hat trick with Ajit Agarkar defending the delievery.

Ajit Agarkar then did something that could keep his spot in the side when he smashed the bowling of Majid Haq for 30 runs in only one over of cricket. Which did include four sixes and a four with the other ball being a two. The Scotland team couldn't believe what they had done conceeding 95 runs which would add to their 84 runs in the opening game.

Scotland then went out to bat in hope for at least some pride and with a weaken India lineup they could have a chance. The cautious approach of the Scotland openers looking good with Ryan Watson spliting the gap between the fielders. The two openers continued on the lineup with the main man Watson scoring 15 of the 17 in the Agarkar over to put them in a good position. The two though were getting a little bit too comfortable with Virender Sehwag taking the only wicket of the innings to get rid of Watson for 36.

Rohit Sharma then end the game with only a six run over from his bowling in which the Scots couldn't pickup his bowling. Majid Haq did try and get some pride in the innings with a 18 run over off the captian but it was to little to late with Scotland being knockout into the bowl finals. While for India they will take on Sri Lanka to see who will take home the Cup spot into the finals.

Zimbabwe vs. England
England have put Zimbabwe into the bowl competition after scrapping a one wicket victory in their opening game of the tournament. Zimbabwe though wouldn't believe their luck when they got off to a brilliant start bowling in their second innings.

England got off to a perfect start with Brendan Taylor not even playing the shot to try and open his account. Justice Chibhabha couldn't believe it and hit the next ball for four. The over which had twelve runs bring brilliant. The next over Hamilton Masakadza hit Luke Wright's ball for six to say that even the likes of Zimbabwe can bat like a core team.

Andrew Flintoff kept his cool in the third, with tight bowling except for the fourth ball when Hamilton Masakadza hit it for four which would bring up his 20. That though would be the last of him and his partner when Chibhabha played a wrong shot against Chris Tremlett to lose his wicket but by then they could be in a good position.

Matt Prior would take another catch when he got rid of Hamilton Masakadza for 24 from the bowling of Trott. That would be final wicket for the poms with Zimbabwe finishing on 3-59 from their 5 overs in the innings. England run chase though went out the window in the first two balls with Luke Wright and Jonathan Trott fell from the new bowler of Tawanda Mupariwa to put England 2-0 from 2 balls.

Andrew Flintoff and Matt Prior tried to rescue the team with control batting. In the second over, Matt Prior started to go on the attack but it would be third time lucky when Sean Williams got rid of the wicket keeper for 11. Chris Tremlett didn't wanted any thing to do about that when he went on the charge at the end of the over.

Another control over from a Hamilton Masakadza over closing the gap massively into single digits that was until a man name Justice Chibhabha got rid off the captian for 10 with Taylor taking the catch. The slowness though of the rest over with Monty Panesar in the batting arena.

But the English would take home the victory and for Zimbabwe, they couldn't believe their luck with another one wicket lost with their first being against Australia and with another lost meing that they would join Scotland in the bowl championship. England though would now need to take home a win against Australia to go through to the cup stage of the tournament.

Bangladesh vs. New Zealand
Bangladesh has created history by being the first team to go through to the cup finals after a two wicket victory against the core team of New Zealand. This has now put New Zealand into a problem sitatution with the match against South Africa for the points chance.

New Zealand got off to a brilliant start with Lou Vincent and Brendon McCullum smashing not only Ziaur Rahman for 23, but also Tamin Iqbal for 20. By that stage, it look like it was going to be a 100+ score with this batting. Farhaz Reza kept it tight in the bowling states on the third over with him only letting 10 runs go.

Brendon McCullum was looking like he was going to get 40 before a slower ball got him out with the edge going straight to Rahim and he was out for 32. Other than that, the tightness of the bowling came. Nazimuddin then got rid of the other opener for 26 with a brilliant catch from Rahman being the man. Daniel Vettori tried to spur past 80 but once again Nazimuddin striked again with Ross Taylor going for only 5. The target being a high 73 runs needed.

A high target to chase down, but maybe not a smart move when Ross Taylor came on and then got hit for eighteen runs. But there wasn't any problem with Mark Gillespie bowling with Nazimuddin being bowled from a quicke. Farhaz Reza then tried to hit fourteen from four balls from the shot making that he took.

Chris Martin then got rid of the captian for 12 with the edge going into McCullum hands. Three balls later, Farhaz Reza then fell from another brilliant catch from Vettori to put Bangladesh into a problem state at 3-39.

No one said they were start in a pickle with Mushfique Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan attacking the spinner of Daniel Vettori all over the place with 26 runs making the game for Bangladesh and the win with Mushfique Rahim scoring the winning runs to put Bangladesh into a brilliant position to score 10 points for a non-core team.

New Zealand though will need help to score points from this round to take a home a win against South Africa in hopefully the chance of points. Bangladesh though, they can relax for the time being until tomorrow.

Kenya vs. Pakistan
Group D is now open to take after Pakistan easily smashed Kenya by 33 runs to keep their shot of making it through to the cup finals alive. Kenya though, couldn't believe what had happened as they lose loads of NRR to fall down to -2.23 and hope that the West Indies lose against Pakistan later tonight.

Pakistan with a wekaen lineup got off to a brilliant start when Imran Nazir smacked Tony Suji for six on the first ball. That was brilliant way to start but they had to wait until the 11th ball for two more sixes, both coming from Khalid Latif to open his way of account. The batting look like it was going to be Pakistan all the way to the top.

Pakistan continued on their way all the way until finally Steve Tikolo made the breakthrough on third ball of the last over with Khalid Latif hitting the ball straight over to Thomas Odoyo to get a wicket. Not that would stop them, with the final scoring being 1-81 and Kenya was shocked on what they were going to do.

Kenya opening pair didn't last long, with the first man being Steve Tikolo for only two and then next over Collins Obuya fell from an edge straight to Zulqarnain Haider and Kenya was 2-19 after two overs and in a lot of trouble.

The Kenya pair of Tammy Mishra and David Obuya tried to steady the ship to Kenya in the match. The problem though being that they were going too slow. When Shahid Afridi bowled another nine run over, Pakistan was celebrating knowing that their chance would still be alive and knowing that they needed to win over the West Indies to go through to the cup finals. Kenya is now hoping that luck will be on their side, as their fate awaits.

That's a nasty blow, if a side which was weak on papers got 80 for Pakistan then, the full strength team would have been much more devastating.

New Zealand vs. South Africa
In the first match between core teams, it was the South African team that would take home the victory, and will comfirm that they will be scoring points after taking home a four wicket victory over New Zealand.

Johan Botha got the South African team off to a flying start after getting rid of Lou Vincent with Heino Kuhn being the catcher to get rid of them. One over later, the other player to score 25+ in the first match also fell. This time it was Albie Morkel that would get rid of McCullum for a duck. New Zealand though being a lot of trouble early on.

Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram thenm tried to steer the ship back on course, and it was looking like it was going to be succesful. That was until the Levi over in which he got rid of Vettori for 12 with Kuhn taking his second catch of the match. Richard Levi then kept the tightness of the bowling by only giving away six runs.

New Zealand did get to 49 runs with Shane Bond helping Jacob Oram score his first 25 of his career. In all and all this would be a low target to chase down for the South Africans.

They did get off to a slow start with Chris Martin only letting six runs off his first over before Albie Morkel lost his wicket when a confusion with Richard Levi, which made him get out with the first run out in history of Sixes competition. Justin Kemp then smacked a four on his first ball, saying revenge is sweet in a 18 run over.

Levi and Kemp then won the game for the South Africans as they went completey mad and scored 39 in their partnership to take home the victory for the South Africans and will go into the plate compeition. New Zealand though will need something to come their way as they will be in the bowl where Scotland and Zimbabwe are already there.
