Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT.EXE
Navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Delete the value named "NoFind" in the right pane.
Close regedit and restart. You might want to back your registry up before editing it though.

It is not appearing in the start menu and context menu and I am having XP not Vista:p. It's just a transformation pack

I'm not sure how to get back the search, try what Kev said.
To search, press the Windows (logo) Key, and 'F'. Or, Simply Press F3 when you are on the desktop.
See if the search window opens.

Which virus was it? Maybe we can help in reversing the damage it has caused.

Abhas added 37 Minutes and 44 Seconds later...

Ok, Try this :

Right click on the taskbar. Click on Properties.
In the window that opens, click on the "Start Menu" Tab.
Click on "Customize" Button.
Now Click on the "Advanced" Tab in the window that just opened.
In the List of Start Menu Items, There is an option of "Search" towards the end.

Make sure it is ticked. If it is not, tick it and click Ok on all the screens.

If it is already ticked, Untick it, and click OK on all screens, and then go back and tick it.

You can get it by right clicking with the menu open, go properties>advanced scroll down and see if "search" is ticked. If it's not, tick it.

u can get back the search by customizing ur start menu.
Right click the start menu go to properties and then click customize then advanced and then scroll down and u can see whether the search option s enabled or disabled...
CHEERS!!!!!!!!

Ok I have a movie its in .avi file and its compressor is DivX now I want to change to compressor to Xvid is there any way ? Due to DivX I am not able to play it on my DVD player.

I am going to build the Pc
Intel Core2 duo 2.66
RAM 2GB DDR3
Hard disk 160 GB
Sony CD ROM Combo
:De.t.c:D
How's that:rolleyes:?

Not bad for a medium range system. What Motherboard ang Graphic card are you using.

Try getting a Motherboard with SLI and Dual channel Memory. Upgrade the Hard Drive as well, just pay an extra £40 for a 500GB HD.

Why not get 4-8GB of DDR2 and a cheap quad core cpu like a Q6600. Four cores are better than two if ya overclock it to like 3.0-3.2Ghz. Unless you're planning on gettin the new intel CPUs with DDR3 memory?

yeah i was going to say 4GB DDR2 Memory as well. That Hypnotic trance must have made it slip my mind.

FOr now i would stick with a dual core processor. Quad cores are not that much better and not compatible with everything.

I'm sorry but how are they "not compatible" with anything? i can run EVERYTHING on my Q6600 that my mates can on dual cores. Do you mean only 2 cores are used to full potential at this moment in time? This is simply down to the software. Have you not heard about how games and apps are going to become accustomed to both dual and quad core cpus? For example that new game Alan Wake is supposed to be ideal for quad cores as it runs numerous threads. Multi-threading will soon become standard (and by soon I mean within the next 12 months). Why buy a very good dual core when you can get a decent quad core (q6600) for the same price with a good cooler and overclock it? Performance in almost all games is the same when comparing a quad core and its equivalent dual core.

Apart from that your set up should be good. Depending on what money you have left over and what you plan on using your pc for, get a:

GTX280/HD 4870 - For extremely high end gaming and high price
4850/9800GTX - For mid-high end gaming at a good price

The rig in my sig can run all the latest games at 1440x900 (19" LG LCD) at MAX settings (Crysis/Warhead, Cod4/5, Far Cry2, Fallout 3, FIFA/PES etc) You could compare your system to mine to estimate what performance you would get.

where can i find data one quick usage finder of 2008,i download from different websites but they
are of 2003 and 2004
