Solve your computer problem with the help of experts!

I really think you've attracted a virus adyhorn. :p Since its Norton...

Try installing a trial of Kaspersky Internet Security, fully update and do a full system scan with it.

Recently I got to download a GIF image which I dont know what it contains.I actually got it from one of my offline messages of my Y! messenger .
After it got downloaded i got to know that the icon of the file looks like a GIF image but the type of the file is exe.
So I scanned it with my Avast 4.8 proffesional and also asked it to delete it.
But the file still exists in my desktop and it cant be cut, deleted from the desktop.
Incidentally my system is also a little slow these days and Im not aware if thats because of this virus (i guess)
Can anybody help me?

When you open Avast, it scans the memory for infected files.
If it finds a file, it asks us to restart and scan at startup. Do that.
OR
There will be some option in avast to scan at bootup. Perform that, Some files are loaded in windows, so they cannot be deleted/renamed/moved etc.

Abhas,I did a boot scan. And it deleted many trojans and other infected files. But after the system restarted,I was annoyed to see the file still there and showing the same warning message when I try to delete it.
I've attached a screenshot of the my desktop.

Are you sure all the infections are clean? Was avast updated before scanning?

Anyway, to delete the file, I'd recommend using this software called unlocker : UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB

After installing, you need to right click on the file and select the unlocker option. Then, there will be an option to delete the file.

I see that name crops up again. How do Norton have a business? Why do people buy them?

I know why, because you go into a retail PC shop and they will be selling it for something like ?40! Rip-off, never trusted a "professional".

Glad I could help. This software is quite useful, but beware, don't delete any important file.. It will kill your system :p

Enjoy :p

Did you chance the font size (DPI) by any chance?
Where in the hell is that setting ? :help

Thanx Abhas it worked. The DPI was set to 96(default here) but then I changed it to 120 and again to 96, restarted my PC and its all back to normal.

Thanks again :happy :hpraise
