Solve your computer problem with the help of experts!

FIRST THINGS FIRST. Leave the D Drive alone. Don't even write a kb to it. Forget that it's there.

Download free data recovery software. Just do it as I say. Don't touch the disk for god's sake. Your data's fine, nothing will happen. Just download Recover my files or just search google. Do that FIRST AND FOREMOST.

This might be another problem but take the safety measure first.S

I need to get rid of those tweaking viruses first. I'll probably format the whole computer after making a backup of the stuff that is left. Then, I'll probably look for some data recovery software. Gosh. It'll be really hard enjoying the vacation keeping in mind that I've lost all my personal stuff. :(

Ok, Before doing anything, calm down.
Check the D Drive.. has the space decreased/increased substantially?
If not, don't worry. Your data is safe and can be retrieved, probably without using any other software.

Data Recovery Software Review 2010 - TopTenREVIEWS

Recommend you download the trials versions of any of them, R-Studio and Getdataback are good, download it on to your local drive and run the test on D Drive. Other than that, Don't touch that drive. Your data is fine. Don't just worry. It's more than anything else in the world that makes you think stupid things. it works trust me, you'll get it all.

I can't tell whether the space has increased or decreased as I don't know the initial size. Though, I selected all other folders leaving the one that was created by the virus, and their size is about 16GB. The total size data on the D-drive is about 30GB (the one you can see from my computer->D-drive->Properties). I think my personal folder that has been captured by the virus must be around 7-8GB. The rest space must be taken up by the virus and system files. So this makes me feel that my folder is still there.

Also, the virus is continuously using the internet connection whenever the net is on (I can tell that after looking at the modem).

*Update on next Monday*

I think there is a boot disk which lets you scan for viruses before Windows loads/starts It is of Avira I think but I can't guarantee about the data b'coz if it is not able to repair files(which is true is 99% of cases) then it may delete it

Install Avast, Go To Scan At Boot Up,

It will take around 5-6 hours depending on your harddisk capacity,

Restart, all virus gone for sure. I hade around 23,132 viruses which came through pendrive from my university computer and then this did the job for me.

Remember On Boot Up Only remove virus.

That's huge. My system will never have these many viruses in my entire life span. :)

Ya Avast! will do but you know I don't think its good or safe to install AV softwares on your PC when it is already corrupted by viruses they may corrupt the antivirus itself :p

It will, Avast is the best anti virus available ATM

It will solve your problem. But buy a legal copy and not pirated

When I'm on Planet Cricket, I get pop ups when I click on links. The pop ups are only google though and stuff like that. I've got Ad Blocker Pro and I haven't had this problem before. Is there something up with my laptop?
