Solve your computer problem with the help of experts!

I have the latest 11.5 drivers installed.
How come drivers cause the artifacts during the boot up? They are supposed to come in play when windows is load up

Artifacts come when i turn my pc on and the Intel Motherboard screen comes up which shows "Press F2 for BIOS". Even that screen is messed up with artifacts.

Oh ok sounds like it is the card itself then, not the software. I'd imagine you'd just have to go get it checked

Naah.. I gotta get a new one. This one is out of warranty period. :facepalm
Anyway i'll try it once in evening. Giving him a bit of rest right now :p

That means it is something to do with my GPU. But how is that possible?
Sometimes you just get a bad one. It doesn't sound like the core has over-heated, not when they can stand up to about 100 degrees and the newer ATI cards do indeed have throttling capabilities to protect them.

However, software temp readings aren't always reliable and the core temp doesn't indicate how the GDDR on the card fares. This is especially important when you install an aftermarket cooler, as you must ensure the RAM chips are still contained. While stock coolers usually cover all important chips with a single integrated heatsink, 3rd party solutions usually use small individual 'ramsinks' (that often fall off due to the lack of adhesive), in order to suit a maximum number of board designs.

An issue with the RAM on the card could be allowing it to function when it doesn't need much memory, but preventing it from applying even the low intensity processing needed for Aero.

You should post more information about your hardware.

I've been using this cooler for last six months and it was working like a charm. Before this my card used to idle around 75 C. If the card was faulty from start it would have shown something earlier. Its almost 2 and half years old.

Here is my hardware info:

Mobo: Intel DG31PR
Proccy: E8400 3.0 Ghz Core 2 duo
RAM: Transcend 2X2 Gb
PSU: Powercolor Diamond 750W
GPU: ATI 4850 1 GB
Cooler: Accelero Twin turbo Pro

I guess that is enough. Lemme know if you need more info.

I am having some bad time with my keyboard.Few times, when I press a key, it just gets executed many times & few times it doesn't gets executed.I have also checked the "keyboard" option in CP, but no help.Any help will be appreciated.:)

Have you tried using a different keyboard to see if the problem is still there?

If the card was faulty from start it would have shown something earlier. Its almost 2 and half years old.
Not necessarily. These things are quality tested, so a flaw right out of the box should be the less likely case. They do age though and given enough current, even the best made electronics will succumb to electromigration. 2.5 years is not too bad a lifetime for a graphics card; you probably wouldn't be able to tell if most high-end cards do actually last more than 3 years because they're obsolete by then.

If it is a problem in the graphics RAM, then VMT should be able to reveal it quite quickly. Alternately, there may even be a problem in the system memory. Memtest86+ is a valuable tool in this case, but be warned that it needs to be booted from a cd or usb and can take quite a while.

I'm just shocked.... My graphic card worked and how it worked is just unbelievable. Some guys at overclock.net suggested me this fix. So here it is what i did.
Removed the cooler from the GPU and removed all the heatsinks. Cleaned the thermal paste from the GPU chip. Now i preheated a over at 200C for 20 minutes. Yeah thats right, we gonna bake the little bugger. then i created a aluminum plate using the aluminum foil and made 4 spherical balls from aluminum foil. Then i placed the Graphics card with GPU chip facing downward on the aluminum plate and used the 4 spherical balls to give separation in between. Placed the little bugger in the Oven and baked it at 200C for 20 minutes. Then i took it out and allowed it to cool in air. After half an hour i reassembled the card and voila! it worked :clap Will post some of the pics taken during the procedure later.
It just saved my 100 Bucks which i gonna spend on next card :p

I've heard about that working before. Impressive that you got it to work though, because a method like that would have a reasonably high fail rate I'd think
