I remember back in the 100s of Clarke they were saying he's nearing his 1000runs? Is he near?

From Cricinfo- Clarke's scored a 1000 runs in 2012 at an average of 111.

Cricinfo says that he has "1000 runs in 2012 at an average of 111". That was at the start of the last over of the day.

Well, after this match he will play in 3 more test matches (Adelaide, Perth and Hobart) so he can add a few more runs to his tally.

I see only Bradman has more double tons (4) than Clarke (3) as captain of Aus.

Has anyone hit 3 double 100s in a year? I know Ponting did 2. Really was just a mental thing as Clarke went ages without a double 100 and now he has 3 in the space of 7 matches.

The match situation reminds me of the India-Australia series from last year. Australia were 40/2, 25/4, 27/3 etc against the Indian attack in each of those 4 tests and the Australian middle order then smashed them to all parts. This game has been exactly the same so far, the only difference being the SA batsmen have fared well against the Aussie attack.

I would like to see how SA manage to bat under the pressure of saving the test now. A lead of 130-150 and a quick declaration just before lunch would set it up nicely tomorrow. Clarke being the captain that he is would surely look at such a scenario and him being out there would make it far easier for him to dictate the match situation.

Clarke's the first to score 3 double hundreds since Bradman which included a triple in amongst it.

Maybe if Clarke can bat the whole day and screw the match and just try get 400

I remember reading (i think it was here) that if Clarke made 400 in that India match and drew, past a few months people wouldn't care of the result but his score would be remembered for ever.

I"m sure Clarke scored a 300, 200 and 200. This year, and that's the first since Bradman.

I also like how that list is Australia exclusive.
