South Africa in Australia

Congratulations.

I wonder if Rudolph hits a century again, but now on Christmas day. That would be fun to read it tomorrow on internet.

But Australia still are favourites for this match.

And this is Warne's last Test to get 100 Test wickets in a year. He is now on 90 wickets.

I think MacGill will make the cut for 2nd test. The wicket might be made to assist spinners as SA are not good against spin.

I have a feeling that SA will win this test match.

Edit= One wicket fall Jaques gone. Early wicket.

1/60 at lunch, not looking so good. Although Aussies were 1/90 at lunch in the first test.

Session was only an hour and a half.

This MCG pitch won't hold together like the WACA pitch did. 2 spinners and any score above 150 would probably be a tough ask.

Good come back by Aussie after losing an early wicket. Lunch - Day 1
Australia 60/1 (20.0 ov) Ponting looking dangerous and he's on 38 off 45 balls.

yeah Australia are unbeatable batting first in Australia I cant remember them loosing a game batting first in Australia for years and years ...

and melbourne just breaks up depends on stupid rain I guess

Good partnership so far between Ponting and Hayden. Ponting looks like he's going to make a century today.

The South Africans would be right on top of things if they had a few specialist fielders (and maybe a bit more common sense with the slips cordon from Mr Smith).

Yeah Saffas would be on top of Nel held on to the catch and had the tight LBW going their way. Aus on top but Ponting doesn't look completely settled and Hodge generally struggles a bit early on. Expect Aus to do well in the last session.

Yeah, I know. Why the hell would you have a staggered slips cordon in those conditions to a new batsman after you have just taken a wicket. I can't remember seeing any team do that so early on in a innings. Unfortunately SA are paying the ultimate price for it.

Dissapointing for the massive crowd, Hodge goes for 7 after edging Pollock to Smith..

3/177 now Australia, need another partnership now.

Good conditions at the moment. The groundsman has obviously put a bit of moisture into the pitch in anticipation of the 30+ degree days over the next two, so it's still seaming around a little.

True. In front of 70k+ and what seems like a fantastic atmosphere. He received a fantastic ovation from the home crowd but Pollock has bowled well today.
