India looking very good here. Gambhir and Yuvi just have a license to smash it around. If Yuvraj stays in I think India will make over 300, which will be a tough score even for Australia to chase. India definitely on top at the moment.

I'm going to go for D

Great work Shan :)

Great update dude, I agree Tom. Why are the bails black?
I go D

I'll go C.

Singh and Gambhir are destroying the bowlers but I feel one will get out very soon, with the other getting a few more runs. India will make around 270 I think. Great presentation and writing, Shan, brilliant stuff.

This is good stuff mate, i also think C.
I feel like India will have a mini collapse in the next 5 overs, and once one wicket falls, it will be tough for them to get back on track.

Wonderful preso mate, lovin this

With the way Indians are going, they should be able to cross 300.. but oh well.. You never know when Aussies are going to come back :D And oh ya, I would have loved to see Sachin with a century :( But in the end, its still happiness .. What do you want more when the team is performing so well ...

Classic story, Shan :clap And I will go with that option D.. I feel they should be reaching around 290! Lets see..

Quadrangular Series 2009, Australia
Australia v India
1st Match, Melbourne
End of 50 overs

Aussies Restrict the Indians to 281

Australian have managed to restrict the Indians to 281 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 50 overs which means they just conceded 70 runs in the last ten overs. At one stage with the way Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were batting, Indians looked like reaching the 300 run mark but thanks to some good bowling towards the depth, Indians failed to reach 300. Cameron White was brought back into the attack but fail to impress as Yuvraj Singh swept away past deep mid-wicket for four of the first ball of the over and went on to concede 10 runs of his over. With that shot Yuvraj Singh reached his yet another 50 of just 44 balls and also received a big round of applause for his quickfire 50 as he raised his bat towards the dressing room. Aussies needed to get rid of this partnership which had already added 93 runs.

Clarke who had got some very important breakthroughs in the past for Australia was given the responsibility by Ponting and even today he didn't disappoint the skipper as he got rid of the in-form Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir went for a huge hit over covers but completely mis-timed the shot and gave an easy catch to Marsh. Gambhir received a standing ovation as he walked back to the pavilion. Skipper MS Dhoni walked in and straightaway got of the mark with a quick single towards square leg. Clarke bowled a brilliant over conceding just 4 singles of it and taking the important wicket of Gautam Gambhir. Shaun Tait was given the ball for his last two overs by Ponting. Tait had gone for 46 runs in his 8 overs, and was smashed four two consecutive fours of the first ball. First was over the cover region and second was over point region. Tait went for 11 from his 9th over including two boundaries by MS Dhoni. Johnson was brought on for his last over and bowled a brilliant over by conceding 5 singles from the over which included 5 bang on target yorkers.

Yuvraj and Dhoni were rotating the striker easily with ones and twos. The running between the wicket was just brilliant. Bracken and Clarke who had been brilliant throughout the day were both brought on by Ponting and the trick worked. Aussies didn't get the wickets but the boundaries were very hard to come by. Finally after three overs without a boundary, Yuvraj scored his 4th of the innings with a brilliant slog weep beating deep mid-wicket for four of Michael Clakre. Boundary was followed by some clever cricket by Yuvraj by taking a single of the next ball giving Dhoni the strike. Dhoni and Yuvraj had both put on a quickfire 43 runs before Michael Clakre again got the important wicket of MS Dhoni. Dhoni went for the smash over covers but was brilliant caught by Shaun Tait at deep point. Dhoni departed for 23 of 16 balls and was replaced by Yusuf Pathan who got of the mark with a single towards long-off.

Bracken again bowled a brilliant over giving just 5 runs of his 9th over and Aussies had pulled the match back very well. They had done brilliantly to restrict India under 300 but still 2 overs were left. Michael Clarke continued and was smashed for a huge six over long-off by Yuvraj Singh. Clarke came back brilliantly after giving a six of the first ball conceded just 3 singles of the next 5 balls. Bracken was given the last over to ball. Bracken had gone for 34 runs in his 9 overs and Ponting hoped he wont concede anything more than 6 runs of the over. Bracken started with a slower delivery of which Yusuf Pathan took the single and gave in-form Yuvraj Singh the strike. Next ball Bracken bowled another slower delivery which Yuvraj Singh completely missed but the next ball Yuvraj Singh timed the shot very well but straight to Marsh at cover for no runs. Bracken had bowled brilliantly conceding 1 run of the 3 balls but the 4th ball Yuvraj Singh smashed him over long-off for a huge six his 4th six of innings. Indians had crossed the 280 mark with 2 balls to go. Bracken came back brilliantly by bowling a slow yorker which was hit towards square leg for no runs. Last ball of the innings Yuvraj on strike and Bracken bowled yet another slower yorker and Yuvraj going for the huge slog over mid-wicket completely missed the ball and was clean bowled by Bracken of the last ball.

Brilliant last over by Bracken conceding just 7 runs and taking a wicket had restricted the Indians to 281 for the loss of 6 wickets after 50 overs. Bracken and Clarke bowled brilliantly in the last 5 overs conceding just 35 runs at 7 runs per over. Bracken was surely the pick of the bowlers for the Aussies taking 2 wickets for 41 runs while Yuvraj Singh's brilliant 86 of 79 balls had helped India reach 281 in 50 overs.

Well thats a good fight back from the Aussies. Mate i love the glasses the Aussies are using, where'd you get them from?

Bracken and Clarke bowled well, and so did both Husseys, and a fantastic catch from Tait set them alive i think. I think they can certainly chase this down

Great presentation mate, kiu :)

Well I downloaded Punk's kit in his final kit thread in 2007 downloads forum that has the glasses..

Well made a mistake in the bowling card should be Hussey and Clarke..edited it now :)

282 is never going to be an easy task while chasing in Australia. The start which our Indian bowlers are going to give is crucial. Hopefully, they can get early wickets and put pressure on India..

Com'on India.. Fantastic works as usual mate :clap

Bolwers Provide India with a Good Start

Well Aussie openers debutant Warner and Marsh came out of the dressing room following the fielders and the umpires. Aussies needed 282 in 50 overs. It was surely a difficult task against the in-form Indian bowlers but not impossible. Dhoni took some time to place the fielding against the two batsman and it was Zaheer Khan to bowl the first over. Zaheer Khan got some away movement from the left-handers and started brilliantly by conceding just two runs of his over. There was a huge roar by the Aussie supporters when David Warner got his first run in One-Day cricket. Will he fill the big boots of Hayden only time will tell. Ishant Sharma who came to the international stage with a bang last here in Australia got off to a very good start like Zaheer. Sharma got the ball to move both ways and like Zaheer conceded just 2 runs of the over. Zaheer and Sharma kept it very tight against the Aussie openers but not giving them any room outside the off-stump so that they can free their arms. The two openers where finding it very difficult to score the runs and run-rate after 4 overs was just above 2.5 runs per over. Indian bowlers had bowled brilliantly well so far and had piled some pressure on the debutant Warner. But he had decided his mind to go for the big shot and he did it. Zaheer pitched the ball a bit fuller and Warner took some room and smashed the ball over covers for a six.

Marsh to joined the party in the next over as he hammered Sharma for four between the gully and point fielder. Runs started to come with ease. The two batsman kept rotating the strike with the easy ones towards deep square leg or long off or even with some risky singles. Indians could have seen the back of Shaun Marsh in the 8th over. Sharma pitched the ball short and Marsh went for the pull shot. Marsh mistimed the shot and got the leading edge and ball went straight up in the air but feel just short of diving Irfan Pathan at deep square leg. The two operners didnt look settled at all. They weren't timing the ball perfectly and runs were becoming hard to come by. The two Indian bowlers bowled brilliant and stuck to a line and length which made the two batsman difficult to play their shots. Pressure on teh two batsman was increasing and slowly the required run rate was also increasing. The two Aussie openers were new and not experience and this their toughest test so far. Indians had bowled brilliant but they needed a wicket just to put Aussies under some more pressure and Ishant Sharma did it. Sharma again bowling a short ball and this Warner going for the pull shot dint get the timing right and gave a very simple catch to Irfan Pathan at deep square leg. Warner debut came to an end as he departed for 16 runs and was replaced by skipper Ricky Ponting in the middle. From the first ball itself Sharma troubled Ponting by bowling a great delivary just missing the outside edge.

After the first 10 overs Australians in some trouble as they haven't got to a great start and also have lost a wicket in form of debutant David Warner. Indian bowlers have bowled brilliantly and have stuck to the basic very well. One or two quick wickets here will certainly put the Aussies on the back. Australia still need 244 runs in 40 overs.

Australia: 38/1(10 overs)
Ponting: 0(2)
Marsh: 19(34)
Extras: 3

Last Wicket(s):
Warner c Pathan b Sharma 16(24)

Z.Khan 5-0-19-0
I.Sharma 5-0-19-1

A pretty quick start from Warner, but goes out again, as in most occasions.
Marsh has started pretty well too, better then he has in my story:p

Good presentation mate, looking forward to the rest of this series
