Spot Fixing Scandal Thread: The Legend Continues

Wow I just read it, thanks for that Insomniac. Just blows the mind, and it's more than obvious that Butt had a very active role in all this. His ban should have been for life.

If only Aamer had confessed from the start and ratted out Butt, he might have gotten away with a very small ban.
Impossible, as the ICC Code states that if guilty, the minimum sentence (which he received) is 5 years.

However, the judges recommended that the ICC should have given them the ability to ignore the minimum sentence, and put their own sentence. It seems as though Aamir would have received a lighter sentence anyway if the ICC code did not prehibit them to do so.

Do you still want the "Defense" of the players? To be honest it's a load of trash and bullshit that they gave, there's nothing groundbreaking other than "IDK how it happened" and "IDK how to speak english"

nah no need for hearing the defense when the evidence is so empirical.

Just to correct you Insomniac, it actually only applies to England and Wales, those in Scotland and Northern Ireland are legally allowed to read it.

I can already see this ruining the criminal trial with claims that it's now impossible to find an unbiased jury or judge.

Why the rush to release this? It's so conclusive that they should have waited until the end of the criminal trial. I also hope the Pakistani government does not fight their extradition or try to hamper the trial.

Oh yeah, thanks. Post amended.

The Pakistani government gave their "assurances" that if they allowed the players to leave England (during the time the drama was unfolding), that they would have them come back to face a criminal trial if one took place.

Of course, we know how trustworthy that is.

Isn't there a way where they could be prosecuted in Pakistan, because of some Commonwealth clause? is Pakistan a full commonwealth member?

Either way, the government has no reason to support these guys anymore, the team has moved on without them, and apparently so have the PCB admins (just look at the evidence given by Waqar and the team manager). It's only the fans who are still supporting them.

Wahab's name came up too. Just to be involved in that way IMO should make him get under some trouble at least. Can't believe he is walking away scott free.

Ya, I just ran a visual route and its in USA. I'll write it up and post it with spoiler tags.

The servers are indeed based in the USA, but PC is a registered UK business, so I think it's best to remove it for the mean time and if the other admins agree, then we can put it back on.

Totally ridiculous legal situation and will probably be used as appeal ground for an unfair trial should any of the Pakistani cricketers get convicted.
As Tom says those of us in Scotland can do what we like ;)

According to Pakistani News Channels, Ijaz Butt has claimed that PCB have requested the ICC to review the judgement against Aamer. This is a new development and shows how desperate the PCB is to save Aamer's carrier.

^Because it may influence the legal proceedings that are supposed to start from 18th feb in England.
