Spot Fixing Scandal Thread: The Legend Continues

I don't think the county allegations were ever proved.

I can't respect Pakistan cricket until the Akmals and Afridi are out. Afridi might not be a match fixer but he is still a habitual cheat and not trustworthy.

Afridi is the guy who warned our management and board regarding Mazhar Majeed. He was of the view that Majeed should be kept away from the players. All this mess could have been avoided if our pathetic board and incompetent management had listened to Afridi.

To clarify our position on this, as PC is a registered UK business and several members of the community are based in England and Wales and in theory couuld be called up to jury duty for the criminal prosecution of the accused players, we cannot have the ICC report of their prosecution of the players linked to on the site. Any excerpts/quotes cannot be posted, but got no issue with people posting opinions such as "from the report it's obvious they are guilty", as that is purely subjective, I think it's a ridiculous situation and it's a shame we can't have a fantastic debate about the report, but as this is now a criminal matter, we have to be cautious.

Feel free to PM me if you've got a query about the situation, or if there is something you want to post and you are unsure about it, then send a PM my way and I'll advise on best course of action.

This is a serious matter, so hopefully we won't have to deal with anyone, I can't really state what the penalties would be, it would depend on a lot of factors, but I will re-iterate that our position on this should now be clear.

Please don't read the above as a thread killer, you can still talk about it, just be careful and stick to the guidelines above. :thumbs

Also Kaneria was charged for spot-fixing in county cricket I think, but it wasn't ever proven? Or I think the charges may have been dropped by Essex police.

And just to back up what Samiullah said, Afridi told Yawar Saeed and the management about the situation during the West Indies T20 WC, but nothing was done.

^^ Check your sent messages mate.

Well atleast we can start thinking about the World Cup. Good to see the issue out of the way so we can finally concentrate on cricket. I think Pakistani cricket fans are gutted on losing those players, but they really dont deserve to be close to the team. Someone else will come and take their spots, there is no shortage of talent in the nation.

Lol, that would be pretty funny, Stevie could be made to have to look vaguely civilised ;)

Must be the first time where breaking the rules at PC could actually land you in proper trouble with the police. Always knew you should read the PC rules before joining :p

Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer have formally appealed to the CAS.

Although I'm not exactly sure how they plan to get away with this...

I've lost interest in this case. The evidence in the report is far too convincing. Time to move on. Pak will produce another set of Asif/Amir quality bowlers in a few years anyway.

It made me feel very uneasy watching that final day where half the team got out spooning catches to the outfielders. I always thought there was something strange about it. At the time in fact I remember thinking I can't believe the Aussies are claiming this when they just got wickets from them trying to smash hauritz.

Day 4 wasn't much better either with Hussey being dropped 4 times on his way to 150 odd.

Pakistan should just be thrown out of international cricket. They're a waste of space. No one can tour there because of fear of terrorist attacks and any game they play is suspicious as hell and not worth watching unless you want to laugh at simple dropped catches, no-balls, wides and ridiculous shots.
Bob Woolmer already paid the price, how many more criminal headlines does Pakistan cricket have to make before anything is done?

Shane Warne, he's an Australian all right! he was also alleged of match fixing, then we should throw out Australia too!

Plus, India's Shev Sina said that if Pakistan qualified for the final, they wont let us play in Mumbai. Isn't this terrorism?

You can't thorw a country out of something just because of some black sheep!

While I do disagree with throwing Pak out, that is a pathetic defence Coolboy. Pak cricket is in a dire situation and has been for a few years. While throwing them out is not the answer, it does not mean it doesn't have to be addressed. Ignoring the problem is not going to do your cricket team any favours.

Warne was approached by bookies, who asked him for details. He did not realize who they were at the time, and revealed some details of the pitch. Not that they couldn't find the info themselves by watching the tv coverage. But he was wrong to do it, and has publicly said so. But it wasn't match-fixing.

The Shev Sina thing, while possibly threatning, is no way whatsoever comparable to what happened in SL.
