Spot Fixing Scandal Thread: The Legend Continues

Australian gambling law is still weird. It's against the law to provide interactive games to Australians. Companies in Australia can host poker and Australians can play poker; they just can't do it together. It's also illegal to offer live betting on events in Australia to Australians, but it's okay to do it on games outside the country.

Obviously the nature of the internet makes this a bag of loopholes, but I can't quite tell whether the point was to deceive a lobby group or a failed attempt to appease them.

However gambling isn't the only problem with US internet law. The prevailing attitude is just that it's something that needs to be controlled, but while they bumble around trying to do that, they are doing the greatest damage to their own free trade. I honestly wonder about the future of internet business within US borders; as the lines get quicker, it seems less and less necessary.

Is there a list of all recent people caught?

I mean after the 3 Pakistanis were caught.

I think the real issue is unregulated gambling in the SC. People are going to gamble no matter what, might as well tax it and monitor the companies.

Correct me if I am wrong but majority of these players are wooed over by SC gambling syndicates. You never hear of a player being bribed by an executive at Bet365.

I really wish we had betting the way you guys have it in England. The only legal place for me to place a sports bet is in Las Vegas.

Better mousetrap, smarter mice.

As far as I know, poker can only be gambled on in Vegas and Atlantic city in the US.. and maybe Indian casinos? The US government screwed online poker for not only their citizens, but the rest of the world by freezing a number of poker rooms. I can't access my account or funds and couldn't give a ???? what US laws are. Basically, they're a bunch of ??????s when it comes to gambling.

Poker is played in just about every casino dude. It's sports betting that is limited to Vegas

Well Danish is clearly dodgy, especially after the Westfield case. Kamran left the entire world believing he was the worst gloveman in the history of cricket, until his name was linked to spot fixing and suddenly he made sense. Makes sense that Umar was probably involved, his unpredictable batting also made sense in light of spot fixing. I'm sure Adnan would have been, except he's not actually that good at cricket, and needed the other terrible glovemen out the way before he could even get a game.

I feel a Titanic moment coming along (that is inevitable doom, not a romantic moment on a ships bow...)

Apparently, Michael Atherton's got an interview today with Mohammad Aamir. I think Sky Sports 2, 6pm UK time. Do any of the UK members know more about it? Really interested to hear what he has to say.

Probably him blabbering on about how he's only a child and everyone seemingly accepting him back in to our sport. Yay.

If anyone watches it, could they provide a summary of some sort to us one-UK members. Not that I'm expecting anything big, but I hope he does reveal some info on who other culprits are.

Haha, he's not going to do that on TV.

Here's a trailer. I think he'll just talk about how he regrets it, how he was forced, who has supported him through this tough time, how he loves cricket (i.e. not money), and how he plans to move on from this. Nothing we don't already know. Hope I'm wrong.
