Sri Lanka in England 2011

Thats what they discussed few pages back @ User.

Last 3 overs 13 runs in Batting Powerplay. This is a problem that England faces taht is POWERPLAYS.

If they play attacking in Power Plays atleast and then calm down for other part they could easily score 260 odd runs

No, definitely not. It wasn't just Dravid. It was a transformation back then, new players stepped up.

Pfft. What happened in the 2009 Champions Trophy then, when Dravid was in the playing XI? India came into that tournament with a 3-1 win at NZl and a 4-1 win at SL. Btw, those Indian sides didn't have Dravid in the XI.

I actually heard Nasser Hussain today. I liked what he said. Trott should come in if Cook gets out while KP should come in if Kieswetter gets out.

I did support this statement yesterday when someone else mentioned it.

Btw, anyone caring to guess the number of boundaries scored during the batting PP by England?

Its just that I don't want him to bat at #3, KP suits best there. Maybe at #4 or #5, but definitely not at #3.

But the fact is India came to resurgence in ODIs after axing Dravid. What I want is a team to make full use of the first 2 PPs.
So you're saying Kohli and Gambhir are more like KP than Dravid?

Nope you got me wrong there. For India, if Sehwag gets going, then I wouldn't mind a 100 Trotts to bat during the PPs. Here in England, that's not the case. Strauss and Trescothick have been the only players to have shown aggressive intent so far in the setup as openers.

Wow, you seem to blame him for everything then.

They actually mentioned it in the last one day game and I brought it up then too. It's about being dynamic which England seem to not be and it's actually something India are very very good at. It's probably one of the reasons they are the best in the world.

You want to drop the only batsman of your side , who is in top 20 rankings:facepalm

Pietersen is ranked 43 you know. He should be dropped from the team. He is English Yousuf pathan nowadays.

As I said, it was the sort of transformation for India in ODIs when the likes of Ganguly and Dravid were shown their way and youngsters stepped up. That feel was instilled in the team and they knew what they were doing.

England have been making way too many changes, I feel. How many opening combinations they have tried in the recent past! They need to give some time to a set of players. I still believe this is a good side. I just hope they stick with it. Players (someone like Bell and Cook himself) need to step up though.

Need to get 250 here to have any chance and even then I doubt we'll get close to defending it.

Now that Cook has scored his hundred he can get out cheaply in the next 2 ODIs as he works on his strike rate.
Nothing against the guy, he just shouldn't be in the team, it's the selectors fault.

Stop the press!
2 fours in 3 balls by Cook! Has the world gone mad?
If he manages to hit a six I think I will pass out and die of shock.

Oops, run out, oh well, batting through the innings and scoring less than half the runs would have been embarrassing anyway.

Nice of England's other batsmen to all fail to make Cook look like he did his job.

lol fair enough, I do admit myself being stupid enough to call for Trott to be given the axe - sort of jumped the gun there. All I want is this:

Which is why I feel Trott coming at #4/#5 is better for helping the above cause.
