Any idea who is broadcasting this in India. Its not on Star, not on Ten, and incidentally also not on Sony, which had broadcast the India tour to NZ in 2014.

NZ will expose how good or not this SRI team this after they weren't properly challenged by a second string Windies team.

How has Kusal Mendis been picked to open the batting? FC average of 30 and List A average of 18. Only ever scored one hundred in his life. Are they that short at the moment?

Sri Lanka is absolutely horrible ATM. However, not as bad as WI. Also injury to Prasad and Kushal Perrera going back is not going to help them.

Sri lanka are very short of good players, in the old days they always had an iffy opener and one other tourist in the line up, but these days chandimal and mathews are propping up 4 kapugaderas/mubaraks. it's not pretty.

prasad is horrible for injuries too, shame as these are nice conditions for him.

Why isnt Kashual Silva (or whatever his first name is) playing?

That pitch ... If it remains like that when play starts, will the ICC find this one to be 'poor' ... don't think so.

I stayed up late to see some NZ and SL get down to do some gardening play cricket on the Hamilton wicket. Here are some screenshots, that are already on the internet of the pitch.

However ah this pitch is not going to turn an inch probably so there is no question of people having a go at it, or ICC rating this poor.

A green pitch doesn't automatically mean its going to have excessive swing. The greener a pitch is the longer the swing is usually prolonged due to the ball being easier to keep in better condition, weather and overhead conditions usually play the bigger part in how much it swings.

It's also got a nice even bounce.

^ Excuses for the pitch begin. If however it was a spin friendly wicket, by now everyone including the ICC would have been rushing to bury it.

SL may even play out of their skin and score 400 by the end of days plays, but that wicket is too green, means its too green. Its been left so green with only one intention and that is to make it as suitable to the home team as possible, and provide as much assistance to the seam bowlers as possible.

However prepare a spin friendly wicket in Asia, and everyone just loses their heads.
