Indian finally made their first breakthough with the wicket of Jayasuriya when the score was at 142. Atapattu went on and made 162 before mistiming a cover drive to Akash Chopra. 4 wickets fell for only 44 runs and the score was at 5/347. A 131 run partnership between Kaluwitharana and Samaraweera poised the game very evenly at 6/478. Lokuarachchi went on and made a quick fire 42 off 43, and Sri Lanki are now currently leading by 62 runs, with India going into their 2nd innings.

Ok, good innings there Squiz!
Will start up my second innings shortly.
Thanks for swaping teams

Gangully:
"Well we are not happy with that bowling performance, we made the runs and the bowlers let us down. We now know we need a big total in our second innings to get back on top of the match. We know if we can get a fairly big lead it will be hard for the Sri Lankans to chase it on the last day. We have a changend line-up with Chopra comming in at no.3, and Dravid and no.6 ."

MATCH REPORT:- TEA DAY 3
-------------------------------------------
14 overs have been bowled so far in the Indians 2nd innings and they were a very exciting 14 overs.
Vaas and Nissanka opened up, bowling very fast and the occasional short one shaking up the batsman.
The batsman were caught out by a lot of movement, which wasn't there in the first innings and a few balls were edged through slips and one was dropped in the slips by Tillekeratne.
Despite all this the two openers managed to survive and actually started to look very good, they played aome beautiful shots through mid-wicket and through gully. Virender Sehwag brought up his 50 off 43 balls.

At tea the Indians reached a score of 0/100 off 14 overs.
(7.1 an over)

Batting:
Virender Sehwag: 51* off 44 balls
Akash Chopra: 42* off 40 balls

Bowling:
C.Vaas: 7 overs, 0 maidens, 0/46 (6.5 per over)
P.Nissanka: 5 overs, 0 maidens, 0/33 (6.6 per over)
T.Samaraweera: 2 overs, 0 maidens, 0/14 (7 per over)

The SCG ground staff also had a pitch report for us at tea:
"The pitch is still playing fairly good now, it did move around a bit witt the new ball, but we expect that it will faltten out and spin a bit for the remainder of today and tomorrow but it may play unevenly for the last day. We are not expecting any rain so we should get a result. Batting conditions will be at their best for the last session today."

MATCH REPORT:- STUMPS DAY 3
-------------------------------------------------
It is stumps on day 3 and 41 overs have been bowled to India in their second innings.
The last session of the day was totally dominated by the Indians. Sri Lanka had no answers to the onslaught and that is why the score currently stands at 1/304 off 41 overs. (7.4 per over)

The Indians seem to have gotton over their spin troubles, although the wicket did fall to a spinner, they have been playing shots easier and the run rate reflects this.

The Sri Lankan bowlers bowled too defencively in the last session of day 3 and were severly punished for it.

Akash Copra and Virender Sehwag both passed 100. Sehwag eventually fell for 113 by playing a lazy leg glance that popped up to the fielder at short mid wicket.

At the moment Akash Copra is in with Parthiv Patel, who is looking in good form.

Batting:
Akash Chopra: 145* off 109 balls
Virender Sehwag: 113 off 100 balls
Parthiv Patel: 38* off 37 balls

Bowling:
C.Vaas: 13 overs, 1 maiden, 0/71 (5.4 per over)
P.Nissanka: 10 overs, 0 maidens, 0/72 (7.2 per over)
T.Samaraweera: 15 overs, 0 maidens, 1/138 (9.2 per over)
M.Murilitharan: 3 overs, 0 maidens, 0/15 (5 per over)

Gangully:
"We are doing exactlly what we wanted, we will hope to keep this up and we will be thinking about what score we need a bit after lunch tomorrow."

next update comming at Lunch Day 4
