Playability: A Normal Pitch, Normal conditions for a good game of cricket. Unpartial pitch, thus giving chances to both and ball.

The Toss:

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to ball first. It?ll take sometime to know whether the decision was good, Lets wait and watch

Innings 1, New Zealand

New Zealand ? 7/0 (Day 1, 11:47 AM)
Overs: 10

Sinclair (5)
Fleming (2)

Muralitharan (0/0 in 1 Overs)
Maharoof (0/3 in 4 Overs)

A slow start from New Zealand. The opening pair would be looking forward to a great partnership. But top most on their minds would be settling down.

Nice to see a Cricket 2004 story. Can't wait to see the video highlights, even if I am a dial-up user!

Innings 1, New Zealand

New Zealand ? 34/0 (Day 1, 12:22 PM)
Overs: 18

Sinclair (22)
Fleming (12)

Muralitharan (0/17 in 5 Overs)
Maharoof (0/13 in 8 Overs)

The Sri Lankans are bowling very well, so far they haven?t conceded even a single extra, and the two fours, each hit by Fleming and Sinclair, came just recently.

Innings 1, New Zealand

New Zealand ? 49/1 (Day 1, 12:52 PM)
Overs: 25
Last Wicket: Fleming c. Jayawardene b. Maharoof 17 ( 43/1 )

Sinclair (26)
Styris (6)

Chandana (0/2 in 2 Overs)
Maharoof (1/22 in 12 Overs)

Maharoof has finally got the breakthrough, The dismissal of Fleming was quite important, especially since the first wicket partnership would be dangerous if left alone.

Dismissed Batsman?s Innings:

1st Wicket: Skipper Stephen Fleming was finally sent back. An important batsman for New Zealand. Fleming could only contribute 17 to the total, which he achieved in a surprising 73 balls and included 2 fours. Maharoof had been bowling on the off side for Fleming for a long time, and Fleming fell prey to that, trying a cover drive and edging it to Jayawardene. All in all, Maharoof has pulled the rope a bit to their side.
