Story St Michele CC's Season [Battrick]

Yeah I have. Made his debut in yesterday's FC match. Batting at number 2 in tomorrow's OD match. From the FC match. Was quite impressed: ;)

Stack: not out 95*

We won by an innings so I didn't get to see him bat again :mad

One day it'll happen, you'll accept by accident and Broady CC's full starting XI will be going on tour down under and it should be fun :D

Yeah, 2 is where he was beastily for me. 95 not out! Nice score, shoulda got the triple figures on team debut. ;)

Tell me how he goes in the OD match aye.

@ Foxy, no, screw you! You bidded on Danga, just so I had to pay 2k more then I wanted to.

Sure mate. I've elected to bat first so hopefully he should have a nice long innings but I don't know how the toss went as I can't log onto Battrick while at school

That Dangasela looks a good player, how'd you feel about a 100k bid Hoops? :D:D

07/03/2008 (OD League)

Today's match was against THE 11 APOSTLES, a fierce rival of ours who we love to beat. In past encounters matches have been high scoring:

Code:
07/03/2008 (OD League) at St Michele CC
St Michele CC	316-2
THE 11 APOSTLES	302-9
07/12/2007 (OD League) at THE 11 APOSTLES
THE 11 APOSTLES	305-3
St Michele CC	308-2
19/10/2007 (OD League) at St Michele CC
THE 11 APOSTLES	317-1
St Michele CC	214-10
02/09/2007 (friendly) at THE 11 APOSTLES
St Michele CC	255-8
THE 11 APOSTLES	256-1

So we knew what to expect...high scoring and hundreds. So in our side were plenty of attacking batsman.

Kent
Drury (wk)
Bennett (c)
Scarlett
Eakanayake
Poulter
Lloyd
Corcoran
Daly
Otoole
Cummings

Opening is Kent, who is in form after scoring a double hundred 2 days earlier, and Drury, the opening wicket keeper batsman in the mold of McCullum.

I told the team to Go For It!, and they did just that, with Drury and Kent flogging the bowlers to all parts going at six an over for the course of the innings - later when the two were dismissed Bennett and Scarlett slogged in the latter overs.

32.6 1 Swailes to Kent
Swailes tries a slower ball there, but it's flicked away to fine leg by the speedy Kent. One run taken.
And that's a century for Kent! Well played indeed Sir!
39.6 4 Warr to Drury
Stunning fielding from Swailes. The third umpire is going to have a look and yes, his arm just touched the rope before he could get rid of the ball. Unlucky.
And that's a century for Drury! Well played indeed Sir!

So we closed our innings at 2-316. Thats a huge total considering our position on the OD ladder (7th) compared to theirs (3rd). We were confident we could register our first OD win of the season..but the bowlers still had to do their job.
End of Over 50: 316-2, runrate=6.32
Allsopp 10-0-76-0
Bennett* 39 (24 balls)
Scarlett 31 (18 balls)

The bowlers came out firing with trainee Johnnie Cummings getting a wicket early.

3.6 W Cummings to Hildred
His score will advance no further, Hildred has edged that ball onto the stumps. Good allround bowling peformance there from Cummings.

We were able to keep them down to 5 and a half an over almost all through the innings, this was slowly going down and the pressure was beginning to build as the req. run rate creeped up into the 7s...then the 8s...then double figures and we knew we had won our first match for the season!

All though the last over from Otoole was a shocker, they couldn't win.
Code:
49.1 1	Otoole to Cloete
Just a short arm jab, back past the bowler for one.
49.2 6	Otoole to Hamed
 	 	Ssswwwiiinnnggg. Six runs.
49.3 4	Otoole to Hamed
A square drive beats a diving fielder in the covers.
49.4 1	Otoole to Hamed
Wide of off, cut to deep point for the single.
49.5 4	Otoole to Cloete
Whack! Full and wide, Cloete jumped at it and drilled it through the covers. Easy pickings.
49.6 4	Otoole to Cloete
That's a decent ball which is met by a superb shot. A wonderful back foot drive through extra cover, four well deserved runs.

Sunday's match is against Gamers XI, another win on the cards as we roll into form at the perfect time of the season...

Man of the match:

Rob Drury
