Strange Dreams

This brings it to a point that, does every dream we have mean something or is it a case of people reading too deeply into them?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but dreams come from the sub concsious part of the mind.

I use to dream every night but now I no longer remember them. I remember one dream where hooper just randomly comes to my house. I was all like "wtf".

^^^
LOL, Hooper coming to your house? Nightmare I reckon that one;)

All dreams come from the subconscious mind, but what that means is that they can represent anything from a deep-rooted fear or anxiety to something as simple as dreaming of your favourite band, or something you ate for lunch.

There are times where a one-off dream can hold a lot of meaning and can revolve around a certain issue that's been haunting you. It won't be re-occurring because whatever it was has been resolved by that one dream, or the issue was resolved in your day to day life soon after. In the same way a lot of one-off dreams are really nothing to worry about, because they tend to represent problems or issues that aren't really big and you quickly forget (like an argument with a friend or an test you just did). And some dreams don't really mean anything and just revolve around whatever is lingering in the back of your mind.

The only dreams worth analysing are re-occurring ones, because they represent an issue that hasn't been faced or resolved yet, and is big enough that you don't forget it quickly.

Damn my mum! Was woke up in the middle of a great dream :(

You do psychology at school or college Z?

Anyone have lucid dreams here? (Where one controls the environment, characters and subject of a dream, whilst dreaming).

Yep I have done this on many occasions. LOL a long time ago whenever I was in any dream, I would find the closest female and rip her clothes off :p :laugh because I knew it was a dream.

ZoraxDoom don't some scientists claim they solved the answer to a problem in their dream?

Did Psychology at AS level, most of this is just through finding out stuff out of curiosity.

Lucid dreams are awesome. I had one, best thing ever. I think looked up if it was possible to induce lucid dreams, but it's incredibly difficult and tends to involve drugs and strange food combinations. Not worth trying.

The guy who discovered the structure of Benzene claims it came to him in a dream. I was stuck at a point in a Rubiks cube, and was half asleep in a daze when I realised how to solve it. Dreaming really does help solve these problems.

Yeah that was the first thing that came to my mind when I read that - Benzene. The guy said he was so mad he was obsessed with it, then one night he dreamt of a snake biting its own tail, forming a ring, and that gave him the idea.

I do dream sometimes where I control it, in fact most of the times I DO control it. But its kinda like half arsed control, if you follow me. I can control some stuff, but say if I know something isn't possible yet I want it to happen, it doesn't happen. I can normally think in my dreams, just like I think when I'm awake. Its kinda hard to explain, all these things.

Yeah sometime you get those weird dreams.
The wrose one is when you fall down in your dream...hate them.

Anyone ever have dreams in which you see a bad situation happening (to yourself or someone else) and you try to say something but no matter how much you yell, nothing comes out of your mouth or your barely audible

That doesn't only happen in dreams actually, it can happen in real life as well. I remember when I was 8-9 and had this dog running after me, I was so frightened I couldn't summon any voice for help. :p

But yeah those dreams are pretty wierd as well. When you wake up you find that its very nearly the same situation in real time as well.

I've had a few like that. A Fear of not being listened to? A problem that you don't feel you can control?

Yea, it'll be something like that. Like the feeling of being helpless and just having to sit by and watch. Like if you know a friend of yours didn't do something he was accused for but you've got no way of proving it or telling anyone he's innocent.
