Chapter 2(A)

What?.....A Cricketer?.....Really?:what

Raj went over to the selection area. I was just taking a look at the the Nehru Stadium. Suddenly an unknown person comes over and asks me to reach the other side. Before I could ask anything,he just moves away. 'Now what?',I murmer to myself. Slowly I walk towards the selection process and the crowd goes on increasing. Everyone had messed up in there. I couldn't find a way to move forward there as an unknown voice from behind calls,'You bat pretty well,young man!' I turn up to see who it was.

To my surprise,it was 'Mr. Lalchand Rajput.' I was like shocked but he told me to calm down. Then,Raj came running in and introduced me to Mr. Rajput. 'What is happening?',I asked Raj. :confused: 'Arey yaar,the selection was yours actually',he said. 'What?... mine selection?..but....but',Raj interrupted me and said 'Yes,yours. Actually Mr. Rajput is my uncle and he was here for some young talent hunt,so I asked him to see you. And I knew you never took your cricketing talent seriously and wouldn't have come if I hadn't lied to you.' Mr. Rajput said-'Well,Gaurav I saw your batting and it was quite impressive. You can really look forward to being a cricketer,and if you decide to I can suggest your name to the selectors for the upcoming Challenger Series. Look,this is a big thing I know but as you've played good amount of U-16 cricket and had great success in it,so I think you can do it. Raj has already told me the reason why you left Cricket and trust me anyone could have done the same.' 'Sir,I'm really grateful. :hpraise Yes,till I was 15 I really dreamt to make it big but then I had to leave Cricket due to studies and financial status of the family. I never really thought about Cricket after that',I said. 'Don't worry,try to go towards your goal. I really wish you good luck. I know you can do the good job',replied Mr. Rajput.

'Thank you,Sir',I just was like day-dreaming as i said this. Mr. Rajput said-'I will reply you back after I recommend you for the selection. Raj will let you know. Series starts on 8th October so I've about 8 days. I'll tell Raj and hopefully the news will be a good one.' I said- 'You mean,I'll be playing with likes of Dhoni,Raina,etc. :banana2' 'Yes,if you get selected which I think you'll be then for sure seeing your talent',Mr. Rajput calmed me down.

It was something unbelievable and like a dream for me. Well,a dead-dream had once agin got life. Wow! I thought,'What?.....A Cricketer?.....Really?' :what

Chapter 2(B)

Still Unbelievable!​

Mr. Rajput left then and I was still stunned at what happened. I looked at Raj and was really grateful to him. :hpraise Before I could speak up anything, he said 'No need of any formality now. You deserve it. Come let's go now. ' We reached his home and still I was just as quite as hell. I had no words to thank him. He said -'Whenever Uncle informs me about anything,I'll let you know. Get prepared and start practicing now.' I said in a low tone-'Thanks yaar. And yeah I'll start it.' I had lunch at Raj's house and returned home.

When I entered my home,I told my Mum about what happened. She too couldn't believe it but then wished me luck and told to rejoice the moment. Well,I went over to my little room and got my kitbag out. I had to do a lot of work as it was fully covered with dust on it. I took my bat and looked at it. Tears started flowing from my eyes without even notifying me. I said to myself -'This is it. This is the moment I had been waiting all my life. This is what I dreamt of two years ago. This is the time to deliver. Lets pull up myself now. '

In the evening,when everything settled down I was waiting for the news. 'It all happened in one day,so why can't I get the news today itself?',I asked myself. But it was all the excitement that was making me think so. I was everytime looking up at my cell to see if Raj had called or is calling. One moment I thought that it was on silent mode. Other moment I thought operator had blocked it. I tried calling my cell from the landline. It was just happening as I couldn't control myself. It was still unbelievable for me. My two-year long wait was still on.....
