AMA Sure, what the hell.. Ask me (VC the slogger)

I've seen you're an avid gym-goer so I'll ask you a few based on that:

What is your favourite muscle to work?
What is your favourite exercise?
How much can you curl?
How much can you bench press?
How much can you squat?
How much can you shoulder press?
How much can you row?
Do you have a set time that you want to be in and out of the gym or do you work out till failure?
Do you do much cardio?
What is your gym environment/atmosphere like and do you like it? If not, how would you prefer it to be?

What is your favourite muscle to work?

Legs.

What is your favourite exercise?

Leg press. Can do up to 450 lbs correctly for about 12 reps though trying to go higher. Did 540 lbs this one time but my form was far from perfect.

How much can you curl?

Haven't gone above 30 lbs on each hand with dumbbells. I prefer being able to do at least 10-15 reps per hand on each set.

How much can you bench press?

I'm on 135 lbs at the moment. Trying to go higher with each day!

How much can you squat?

Front squat with 135 lbs, back squat with around 175 lbs at the moment.

How much can you shoulder press?

I suck at this. Only 95 lbs. :p

How much can you row?

With the barbell about 125. One-arm dumbbell row with 55 lbs on each arm.

Do you have a set time that you want to be in and out of the gym or do you work out till failure?

Work out till failure or at least till my trainer says to stop. I care not for counting the hours, rather making the hours count.

Do you do much cardio?

5 mins on the treadmill before I get started with the real deal. 6 sets of rowing (2 mins per set and real fast) on the day I do exercises in a circuit.

What is your gym environment/atmosphere like and do you like it? If not, how would you prefer it to be?

I love it. The people are all very helpful and they play some pretty damn good music too.

Ah the dreaded leg day, if you can't sit on the toilet in the morning or climb a flight of stairs the next day then you haven't done it right :p

Lol had to convert all of those to kg I'm a metric kid :p

Fair play to you though nice to see somebody who does it with conviction and isn't as lazy as me :D, don't need to lift loads as long as you concentrate on form, keep at it my man!

Spare a thought for little old me, I have to do it twice a week! One involving squats/lounges/leg press etc and the other involving deadlifts/hack squats/hip thrusts etc. But I still like it. No pain, no gain. :p

Haha exactly. Go ham or go home.
Don't know if there is any basis to it but once I started squatting more often I would find that my other excercises would go up along with it.

Word of advice...never work your adductors and abductors the day before you plan to meet your girlfriend :p

Isn't it better to work them with your girlfriend?

Just a follow up, I saw you locking out your knees on the leg press machine. Apparently it's best to keep them bent rather than fully extended otherwise it can eff up your joints, plus it keeps the stress on your quads too. These kinds of things I hear are just by word of mouth though so ask your personal trainer, he'll know best :thumbs

Cheers. It was a bit too heavy for me according to my trainer, which is why I went back to the drawing board and down to 360 lbs to work on it last month. He says I've improved on it a great deal since then and can even do it with 5 plates (450 lbs) correctly now. Will hopefully do a video this week to compare my progress. :thumbs
