Symonds does not want's to tour Pakistan?

Sports has nothing to do with that ... and it's not the first time they are doing it. I know why.

Well, the situation in Pakistan is not that bad that other countries shouldn't tour Pakistan. Media is going wild. I have spoken with a lot of relatives, and things are not as they seem on the news all the time and everywhere :)

Also cricket games would bring smile to peoples faces ;) Why take that away from them? One can also tour the more safe cities, security, etc.

Military dictatorship arresting opposition leaders isn't a bad situation?

And what on earth game of cricket has something to do with country's Political instability , I?m sure their tight up the security if they tour. Anyways, we shouldn?t be arguing that if the situation in Pakistan is bad or not, lack of interest other teams have on playing Pakistan can be questioned.

i don't blame him he has a long career and doesn't want to die early and it's not like Pakistan is going to be any competition for them (no offence to Pakistanies)

When it's his time to die, he will, no matter if he is in the safest place on the planet, which does not exist. I know we have a new captain we are going through ups and downs, but it's possible.

They should've had the World Cup final in Pakistan so you Aussies can't win it again.

yup, the last time they played in Pakistan was 1998, and I don't know how. Why not just say we don’t want to play Pakistan in Pakistan, we are all fine then.

The country wasn't under emergency rules then, my personal opinion is that no tours should take place in Pakistan until political order has been obtained. The current situation is vile, the country is in turmoil. I wouldn't want to tour there.

lol when a country is in emergency then security is so tight. So why are they fearing? Also you can go to pakistan people are living their normal life.
Also its a double standard followed by some teams for excusing. This same Australian team continued their tour of England when four bombs blasted there. Why?

I completely agree. If there is emergency then security is so tight. And cricket teams in pakistan receive very tight security.

Hay I am going to Pakistan next month and I am happy that I am going.
I don't know why people are so scared?

Reminds me of a girl (17) who's a friend of mine who won't go cycling on a public bike path because her mother has told her that she'll get beaten up by chavs.

Well, the media have portrayed the situation in Pakistan a little more then it actually is. But back to the cricket part. I don't see "banning" Pakistan will result in any positive thing for any parts?

You're saying that Pakistan is just as safe as Britain? I can't answer why the Australians stayed here, only they can. The situations are wholly different though. The 7/7 attacks were on civilians because of our involvement in Iraq/Afghanistan, the attacks on Benazir Bhutto's return, not only killed 4 times as many people but had wholly different reasons. There is a difference between competant security and tight security, I also think the language and culture barrier doesn't help matters either. The situation in Pakistan at this moment, politically, isn't much different from Zimbabwe, is it? Manipulation and arrest of opposition members and leaders?

The idea of 'banning' tours is to increase the pressure on the dictator, of course they ICC won't do it, look at their handling of the Zimbabwe situation.

My biggest issue is the political situation, rather than the safety issue (Which I think Symonds alludes to when reading that article), Lawson's comments are interesting too. It's a long time before the tour, and I believe the "elections" are before the tour starts.
