Symonds racially abused vs India 5th ODI

The police did nothing about the crowd throwing plastic bottles onto the outfield and assaulting a TV cameraman during the sixth one day international. Those responsible should have been ejected from the ground and fined.

On the subject of crowds in India, I hope the whistles and horns are banned and they stop jumping up and down like mad when they are on screen. It is embarassing and annoying.

You should work for the ICC.

That's what makes Indian crowds what they are, MAD!, taking that away is like taming the WIndies crowd last March, it doesn't work. It's part of Cricket and although it's different from our way, it's a great part of cricket.

I hope ECB bans beer and your so called barmy army(if it still exists).
If you think whistling and horns are annoying go and watch chess then.I have seen some english fans going crazy when they are on screen whats your view on that and who are you to stop people from doing and enjoying what they want.

I know nothing is going to happen, it just annoys me. Maybe I wouldn't notice it so much if the TV production was better in India.

You are over-confident just like what england did.We will be happy with it.And making monkey chants is racists?I think you should read Mark Waugh's and Border's comment on this issue they dont think that making monkey chants is racist becoz the crowds havent said a single word to him.
We aren't over confident, we are the best, we know we can beat any team in the world because we are number one in both formats - so no over-confidence there.

Mark Waugh and Allan Border know jack ****, of course the crowds have said something to him....

They say it in the US. Not as much as dude, but yeah, sometimes.
And most members who have been actively posting in this thread are from the US.

I think Americans say mate in reference to a sexual partner.

Obviously not, I meant in relation with this latest issue they seem to know nothing about it if they think the crowds have said nothing to Symonds.

Thats what i am asking. You know better than them? And how can you say that they know nothing about this issue?

Well, as it seems, I do know better then them about this issue.

Yeah, if they think the crowd said nothing to Symonds (like you told me) then them two obviously don't know what they are talking about because the crowd has been saying stuff to Symonds.

Oh well.
The matters been handled with and the ODI series is over. I guess we can just move on, eh?

Looking at the some of the articles written over the incident, it's somewhat amusing to see that it's generally the British and Australian writers (though there are glaring exceptions) who've taken a more balanced and equitable view of the incidents, compared to the Indian writers who either try to brush them off or go to the other extreme and criticize Indian society as inherently discriminatory and racist.

I think Peter Roebuck's article is easily the best of the lot: http://www.smh.com.au/news/cricket/...1192301041827.html?page=fullpage#contentSwap1

For an Indian perspective, Soumya Bhattacharya's article in the same paper is worth a read:

Those were good reads. If I read the second article properly, I pretty much agree with the author. While the actions of the fans were inexcusable, they cannot be definitely interpreted as racist. Perhaps the fact that it was published in an Australian newspaper will convince more people that we're not just spouting rubbish.

indians are passionate abt cricket...symonds was top scorer in the series...so some of indian cricket fans crossed the limits and started to abuse him wit those chants and antics

the dont even spare their own cricket team...remember wen india made early exit in the year world cup..they burned their effiges and destroyed dhoni house...

The fanatisism of some Indian cricket fans really does blight what is, in most, a healthy, intelligent cricket fanbase.
