Symonds racially abused vs India 5th ODI

Believe me australian crowd will do it again to Sri Lanka and then India and they will get away with it easily.Symonds should look himself first before calling indians racist. It was him who started it in 20-20.And then when he came to India his interview "I dont like the celebrations indians did and they think they are superstars blah blah" who the hell is he thinks he is.We dont need any andrew symonds to tell us how to celebrate. It was his comments that made our players furious. Why no other player was targeted? And making monkey chants is racists?I think Darren Lehman calling sri lankans the "black" is racist isnt it?Or do u want me to post all those videos and news where australian players and crowds were acting as racists?

hehe warn the aussie crowd dude this time indian media will be there to take pictures and videos of your crowd and their behaviour. And you hardly know about indian media.:p

No chance, we have CCTV surveillance, and I betcha any spectator caught being racist will get kicked out, a ban or a fine.

Ok, so he made your players furious by saying they shouldn't go overboard in their celebrations...So how does that justify racist taunts being thrown at him? Oh and why should he look at himself before calling the Indians racist? What did he do to provoke it?

Darren Lehman issue was a big mistake, a one off, he apologized and had his reputation tarnished. No, no need for evidence, he can own up to doing it - he aint a bitch.

Ok, bring a shipload of Indian media to Australia to watch them cop flak for coming to watch there team lose the Test series and Commonwealth Bank series - fine by me.

You are over-confident just like what england did.We will be happy with it.And making monkey chants is racists?I think you should read Mark Waugh's and Border's comment on this issue they dont think that making monkey chants is racist becoz the crowds havent said a single word to him.

Symonds is probably the greatest lower-order ODI batsman since Michael Bevan and he hammered your bowling attack to all parts of the field. That's why he won Player of the Tournament. That's "who the hell" he is.

Oh and btw, you shouldn't be getting to confident either. So what if England got over-confident? We beat them 5-0 last year and if luck had've gone our way we would've beaten you 7-0 in your own country so cop that.

What do you reckon would happen if there was a game of cricket where both Australian & Indian crowds were pretty much even with the same ammount of people? It'd be interesting to see who'd get targetted then although the Aussie fans would probably flog those sort've Indian supporters with ease.

I have never said that Symonds is a bad batsman.
And talking about luck.It would have been 3-3 if the luck had gone our way in the 6th odi.So dont talk about luck here.Becoz last time we toured australia we were unlucky otherwise we would have won that series by 2-1.Want some more examples of luck where india were unlucky?

No it wouldn't have.

- You would've lost the 1st game had it not been rained out.
- We comprehensively outplayed you in the next 2 games.
- It would've been exactly what happened in the 4th game as it would've in the 3rd if India's top order batsman didn't suvive borderline umpiring decisions and much like what happened in the 4th game, you probably would've been skittled for 150.
- We crushed you in the 4th game.
- Beat you in the 5th game despite not having our best batsman at the current time playing in that match.
- Should've lost the last game aswell as the bowlers went off the boil a bit after being 6/62.

There is a dedicated thread to dicuss the India vs Austrlia series, please use that to talk about the series.

Any more posts off topic will be removed.

What did he do to provoke it?

There is no justification for the behavior of these fans, and racist taunts cannot be justified.

But, saying he did not provoke the negative attitude towards him is hardly true. His comments and the attitude that he displayed towards both Indian players and Indian fans can hardly be called friendly. He was openly critical of both players and fans repeatedly, which he could have easily avoided. He does not understand our culture or our way of living or anything about us. The way we celebrate is just a part of our culture. If he had ever been to an Indian wedding, he would never have said that our 20-20 celebration was over the top :D . In short, he shouldn't be criticizing things that he doesn't understand and things that are none of his business.

But no matter what the provocation nothing justifies racist taunts. The people of Vadodara may have taunted him not knowing that their taunts could be classified as racist. But the behavior of these people in Mumbai cannot be justified and disgusts me.

Another great case of a player allowing to be rude if they're good enough. Tendulkar has been one of the greatest ODI batsmen for about a decade and a half yet I don't see the need for him to go to the media and cry about why other people are celebrating. In the end, it was just a way to push himself on Indian supporters and rile them up.

Of course, you're ignoring the fact that abusing fans were a minority that only seem like a majority because of extended media coverage.

The police did nothing about the crowd throwing plastic bottles onto the outfield and assaulting a TV cameraman during the sixth one day international. Those responsible should have been ejected from the ground and fined.

On the subject of crowds in India, I hope the whistles and horns are banned and they stop jumping up and down like mad when they are on screen. It is embarassing and annoying.

That' the whole atmosphere of having cricket in India.
They like their cricket. What's wrong with it?
They're obviously not embarrassed.

There is nothing wrong with liking their cricket. England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa fans can like their cricket without those whistles and horns.:brickwall

Plastic bottle throwing has been a problem for ages. They've tried to fix it in many ways--nets, banning plastic bottles, etc. The police need to be more proactive. The problem is cricket is so big that even the policemen turn around and watch the game. :D

Ummm..... I think they make it much more exciting. I don't see why it is embarrassing to you, but I assure you it certainly isn't embarrassing to me to see someone get happy when the camera points to them. It's about enjoying yourself out there and I think getting excited is much better than sitting rigidly and clapping.

I hate how Indians say "mate", do they even say that over there?

They say it in the US. Not as much as dude, but yeah, sometimes.
And most members who have been actively posting in this thread are from the US.

Not as much as Indian fans though..

They come out to have fun. A billion people + just saw them for those few seconds. They can jump around if they want!

Mate is said all the time in England.

So, was I the only one who physically jumped off his chair and scream "come on, Irfan!!" when he squared up to Symonds?

Man, I was really pumped up.

There's nothing wrong with the fans enjoying. It makes no sense to be banned in India just because some foreigners are annoyed by it.
