Come on Barca! 3-1 win it'll be today! Great story and fantastic graphics KUTGW

19:03 Arbeloa intercepts a Barcelona throw in and plays it into the middle to Alonso, who then gives it back to Arbeloa, he goes down the line to Snejider who plays it into the middle to Van Nistlerooy who has a dig from 20 yards out, the shots is on target but doesn’t trouble the keeper.

PENALTY TO REAL MADRID

19:04 YELLOW FOR PUYOL. Kaka picks the ball up in midfield and distributes it wide to Snejider, he runs down to the byline and pulls it back to Benzema who is tugged down by the Barcelona skipper, Carlos Puyol and the Penalty is given.

GOAL TO REAL MADRID

REAL MADRID 1 - 0 BARCELONA

19:05 Van Nistlerooy is given the responsibility of the penalty after a foul from Puyol, he puts it into the bottom left, Valdes goes the right way but can’t make the save. A horrible start for Barcelona who go 1-0 down after only 5 minutes and are now under the pump.

DanRedfen on ChatToday: ‘Shocker to see Real go 1-0 up after just 5 minutes and they now have the upper hand, expect the passion to fly from now on!’

19:08 Kaka gives a way a free kick after a handball during a tussle in midfield with Iniesta. Srna is given the free kick and decides to go for a shot it’s on target but Casillas makes an easy save.

19:13 Alves takes a throw in opposite the edge of the area. Throw in is cleared by Metzelder and only succeeds in giving it back to Alves, who finds Milito on the edge of the area. Milito tries his luck but his short just goes over the bar for a goal kick.

19:20 Arbeloa throws the ball back to Jiranek who is the last man, he passes it to Metzelder who then plays a long ball down to Benzema who collects the ball, drives into the box and tries to make the killer pass in but it is deflected out for a corner. The corner is delivered by Sneijder, who finds Benzema waiting at the near post. He deflects it on with his head but only succeeds in finding the post and Alves clears it back up to half way.

19:23 Gudjohnsen switches the play from the left to the right, he finds Srna on the right hand side who has his cross deflected out for a corner. Srna takes the corner himself but it is cleared off the head of a Real Madrid player.

19:26 Ronaldo cuts through into the box and plays the ball right across the face of the goal. He finds Sneijder on the other side of the area who has a shot but it is turned round the post by Valdes for a corner. Sneijder turns the corner in and it is headed out by Alvez who finds Ronaldo on the edge of the area and puts the ball over the bar.

GOAL FOR BARCELONA

REAL MADRID 1 - 1 BARCELONA

19:29 Iniesta moves the ball wide from the middle to Abidal on half way who passes it down the line to Messi. Messi looks for Xavi who gives it to Gudjohnsen just outside the area. Gudjohnsen plays it across the edge of the area and Cardozo hits it first time into the top right corner. No keeper in the world would have saved that shot a class strike from a class player.

19:34 Alves plays the ball through to Cardozo who is brought down just outside of the area and wins a free kick. Jiranke receives a yellow for his trouble. Srna lines up the free kick but only gets it as far as the wall.

BarcaFan on the text: ‘YES! GET IN! We have pulled one back and seem to be hitting our straps expect a demolition now!’

19:35 Ramos lofts the ball forward to Benzema on half way he advances and is fouled by Milito and wins a free kick. Milito receives a yellow for his free kick. Kaka plays the free kick to Alonso who in turn then plays it to Benzema and Real Madrid receive another free kick on the edge of the area after a challenge by Srna.

It's tight at the moment, and could go either way. I was very surprised to pick up a penalty so early and thankfully we put it away. Cordozo's goal was a real beauty, not a lot you can do about those to be honest.

Loving the pres Ollie, look forward to getting this done and continuing our season.

realmadridvsbarcelonask.jpg

19:36 Ronaldo lines up the free kick and Barcelona are saved by the woodwork. Iniesta scrambles the ball away and Barcelona proceed up the pitch.

19:37 Build up play down from Barcelona down the right side, leads to Gudjohnsen receiving the ball in the middle and he has a curling shot from just outside the area and tipped round the corner to force the corner.

19:45 A tense first half comes to a close here at the Bernabeu and the scores are tied at 1 a piece. Both managers will have their praise and their criticisms of how the half has gone and both will be looking to push forward for the win!

--------------------------------------

20:00 So with the half time break over, the players are back on the pitch. The referee blows the whistle and the second half begins.

22:02 Neither side has come out firing at the start of the second half and both teams seem to be slightly tentative neither side wanting to give anything away.

GOAL TO REAL MADRID

_46175646_net_buster_44.jpg
20:05 Real Madrid 2 - 1 Barcelona (Benzema) Benzema picks the ball up in the middle of the pitch on the half way line and plays the ball to Van Nistelrooy who makes a run on the left hand side. Van Nistelrooy darts down to the by line and pulls it back to Benzema just past the penalty area. Takes a first time shot and puts into the bottom left corner.

20:08 Barcelona awarded a free kick just inside the Barcelona half after a foul by Benzema. Cordoba plays the ball down the right hand side. Abidal passes it to Messi and Messi doesn?t hesitate in passing it straight into the middle to to Gudjohnsen. The ball is cleared up pitch and from the resulting melee Sneidjer picks it up in the Barcelona half. No pressure is put on the Madrid player and he drives deep into the Barcelona half and has a shot from well outside the area, but Valdes claims it with ease.

20:15 Iniesta takes a shot low and hard into the bottom corner but Casillas does well to get down and turn it round the post. From the resulting corner Srna floats it in but no one gets a head on it and goes out for a goal kick.

20:18 YELLOW CARD (Srna) Srna obstructs Ronaldo and brings him down and Srna receives a yellow card for his troubles. Ramos plays it back to the winner of the free kick, Abidal fails to stop Ronaldo and instead of diving he surges into the Barcelona penalty area, Ronaldo lobs it in but it is cleared by the head of Cordoba.

20:25 YELLOW CARD (Xavi) Sneijder crosses in a free kick and is headed out of the area by Milito. Alves and Xavi pass to each other whilst moving up the touch line untill Xavi is dispossessed by Kaka. With Xavi on his way to re-claiming the ball fouls Kaka and receives a yellow.

20:33 YELLOW CARD (Snejider) Iniesta who receives the ball in the middle of Madrid half plays a through ball down to Alves who is making a run down the right wing, Sneijder out of desperation attempts a rash slide tackle and gives away a free kick. Srna rifles in a free kick but in return it rifles off the wall and out for a throw in.

20:41 Abidal throws the ball down the line to Ibrahimovic who tries to switch sides and find Cordoba, but his switch ball is intercepted by Sneijder. Cordoba then wins the ball back off the same player on the half way line, he feeds Xavi who in turns passes it to Iniesta. Ramos intercepts the follow up pass to Ibrahimovic and goes out for a corner.

20:43 Milito wins a 50/50 ball in the air and Ibrahimovic collects the bouncing ball, he passes it back to Marquez who tries a long over head through ball to Alves but Arbeloa heads it out for a throw in.

3 MINUTES OF INJURY TIME TO BE PLAYED

20:45 The tension in the Bernabeu is unbearable as Barcelona look to score at every given opportunity but they don?t seem to be able to put it in the back of the net. With 3 minutes to go Xavi makes a run down the right hand side of the pitch, he tries to put a ball into the box but it?s cleared by Ramos. The ball clears as far as Cardozo who gives it to Ibrahimovic but he is disposed by Kaka who as quickly as possible kicks it clear.

20:46 The ball goes as far as Benzema who plays it to Sneijder. He finds Kaka in the middle of the pitch, who is disposed by Xavi. As quickly as possible, he looks to play the long ball to Cardozo but the attack is cut short by Arebloa who clears it up field.

OSCAR CARDOZO ANNOUNCED AS MAN OF THE MATCH

It was a good show by RM. I think for sake of posting in these footy threads, I have learnt some football now. Now I know - Goal, Yellow card, red card, corner kick, penalty kick, extra time played in end :banana2

Thats a huge win for Real Madrid, more of psychological win over the reigning Champions of Spain, yet Barca lead the table. Looks like the reverse fixture between these side would be the main and most important one.

Was an extremely tough game and I'm just pleased we nicked it by a goal. We continue our fantastic unbeaten run and we give Barcelona their 2nd defeat in just a few games. After our slow start the title race can now begin.

realmadridclosethegap.jpg

Real Madrid have reduced the gap at the top of La Liga to just a single point as they took all three points at the Bernab?u in the first El Cl?sico of the 2009/10 season.

Real Madrid came into the match with a 19 game unbeaten run in all competitions, including a win over rivals Atletico Madrid in November. Barcelona picked up their first loss of the season in an exciting game at the Vicente Calder?n against Atletico Madrid. Despite that 3-2 loss they sat top of the table, four points clear of Real Madrid and looking to increase their lead by the end of the night.

The game started brightly with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who thankfully had returned from injury in time for Real, hitting a 20 yard shot wide of goal. It didn't take long for the first vital decision of the night to arrive as Karim Benzema was pulled down inside the box by Barcelona captain Carlos Puyol. The referee took no time in awarding the penalty and showed Puyol a yellow card after a minute of protest. van Nistelrooy stepped up and calmly slotted it past Victor Valdes who guessed correctly but was unable to palm the ball away.

Barcelona responded well, Dario Srna forcing Iker Casillas into a smart save from his free kick. Dani Alves came close as his shot grazed the bar but at the other end Real almost doubled their lead. Benzema's pass forced a corner and he responded quickest to Wesley Sneijder's front post corner. Benzema managed to glance the ball towards goal only to succeed in striking the post before the ball was eventually cleared by Barcelona.

With the half hour mark approaching Barcelona broke down the left with Eric Abidal. His pass found Lionel Messi before a quick string of passes gave Oscar Cardozo a sight at goal. He took one touch before striking an unstoppable right footed shot into the far corner of the net to level things up at 1-1.

Real continued to press despite the set back and once again found the frame of the goal with Cristiano Ronaldo's free kick. After half time both sides looked tentative on the ball and neither team could break the opposition defence down. On 50 minutes Real regained the lead. Benzema and van Nistelrooy worked well together on the left hand side before van Nistelrooy eventually pulled it back for Benzema to drill the ball low and hard into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

The second half became a scrappy affair with both sets of players giving away numerous fouls resulting in needless yellow cards. Real Madrid defended with ease against a surprisingly lacklustre Barcelona attack. The fourth official revealed three minutes of added time to the dissatisfaction of the home supporters who were firmly on the edge of their seats. Real continued to defend deep in their own half but once Arbeloa cleared away yet another attack the referee blew the final whistle.

Oscar Cardozo received the man of the match award but the day belonged to the home team. Jack Teague celebrated his first El Cl?sico win by running onto the pitch to join his players, leaving his opposite number Ollie Holden waiting for an after-match handshake.

Holden was gracious in defeat when he spoke in the post-match interview. "We didn't play our best football today and that was down to Real's performance. They looked dangerous going forward and we were lucky to keep them from scoring more. I am very disappointed but we are still top of the table and I believe we are still the side to beat."

In his post-match interview Jack Teague dedicated the win to his newly born son Freddy. "It was a fabulous performance from the lads. We scored twice but I felt it could have been more had luck fallen our way on a couple of occasions. I was confident of a win today but it still feels a great relief to have finally won. I would like to dedicate todays win to my son, and I hope he will one day be inspired to follow in his father's footsteps."

Real Madrid now face Racing at the Bernab?u on Saturday whilst Barcelona take on Valladolid at home.

A very poor month in fairness. It started out exceptionally well with our deserved victory over Ollie's Barcelona. But the highs of that win were soon overtaken by the lows of a home defeat to 3rd placed Racing, in what was the worst performance of the season.

Then came our final Champions League group match against Arsenal. Both of us had already made it through but whoever won would gain the top spot. We were outplayed yet again and lost 1-0.

We bounced back at Vallodollid to record our first win since the Barca game, and thankfully Sevilla held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw.

Sevilla were then able to hold us to a 1-1 draw, despite the fact that we should have won. Following the draw we were bouyed by the news that we would be facing Olympiakos in the Champions League last 16, one of the weaker teams in the draw.

A crucial month up next as we need to close the gap at the top once again. Our game away at Barca towards the end of the month is a win at all costs.

A pretty good month really, drew Bayern Munich in the first knock out stage of the Champions League, could have been better but could have been much worse! Hoping I don't meet Jack untill the final, or I would love to knock him out in the semis. Speaking of Jack, I have a lovely 4 point margin over him going into the New Year. Wasn't just a good year in terms of footballing play, also on the awards front, Srna and Messi both picked up two, but they were so closely named it was hard to decipher! But good on them, Ibrahimovic and Henry seem to be banging in the goals, both scored 4 goals in a game in a match this month. I put it down to my amazing mangerial skill, the team seems to be really driven now, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

Oh yeah, and we won the Club World Championship on the side :p

The Real Deals
Translated into English

realmadridtransfers.png

Real Madrid boss Jack Teague has rung the changes in the January transfer window with six players coming in and a further four players leaving.

Among the signings are French star Hatem Ben Arfa, English striker Gabbi Agbonlahor and Italian forward Alberto Gilardino. Among those leaving are Karim Benzema, Rafael van der Vaart and Pepe.

New Arrivals

Teague revealed his signings at the Bernab?u earlier today in front of a large gathering of fans. Madrid's most expensive signing was that of Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino for 20million with an additional 20million payment in a year?s time.

Teague splashed out 25.5million on 21 year-old midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa to bolster his already start-studded midfield. Former Argentinean international Juan Roman Riquelme joined from Boca Juniors for 15.75million and Ledley King was bought from Tottenham for 19.75million plus the services of Royston Drenthe.

Gabbi Agbonlahor has made the move from Aston Villa for ?15million and the final member of the arriving party is Milos Krasic from CSKA Moscow for 9million.

Teague's spending spree has now tallied up to a whopping 144million but it is unlikely to rise any further during the January transfer window.

The Departures Lounge

Karim Benzema's stay at the Bernab?u lasted for just half a season after he was shipped off to Manchester United for a fee of 15million. Rafael van der Vaart has joined Bayern Munich for 12.75million and Pepe's 15million move to AC Milan wraps up the list of changes.

Game Of Statistics

Karim Benzema played a total of eight games for Madrid, scoring just once, the winning goal against Barcelona. His replacements, Gabbi Agbonlahor and Alberto Gilardino, have a combined scoring record this season of 16 goals in 31 appearances at more than a goal every two games.

Serbian Winger Milos Krasic had a good season with CSKA Moscow scoring 4 goals from 12 games with a further 6 assists. Rafael van der Vaart however was in and out of the starting eleven, playing only eight games without a goal or an assist to his name.

Juan Roman Riquelme was an influential figure at Boca Juniors, helping his side with 3 goals and 3 assists in 16 matches.

Hatem Ben Arfa had a solid start to the 2008-09 season at Olympique Marseille before the move, setting up 3 goals in 14 appearances.

The stats tell only one side of the story. The crucial factor will be Teague's ability to get the squad playing as a team. If he can't do that all the money in the world won't buy Madrid success.

Pressure

Only time will tell whether Real Madrid's all-star squad will be enough to lift the La Liga trophy ahead of fierce rivals Barcelona, but one thing is for sure, the Madrid board will be expecting it to happen and Teague's job may well be on the line.

Pretty massive changes there especially considering its only the winter transfer window. I am guessing Ben Arfa and Gilagoal wont be eligible for the Champions League?

You won't be seeing any changes from me with my budget of 2.5 million ;). Oh yeah, and I'm top of the league :p

Im not sure whether you can be cup tied in the Champions League. If you can then half of those will be ineligble. Gilardino, Krasic and Ben Arfa have all played in the Champions League for their previous teams.
