Test Cricket tweak

Ragada, I am not looking forward to releasing this one as there might have been some unknown issues and would not want the patch to be proved a disaster. I will probably think about releasing it if I play for a month with this patch and am very sure that this can be the most realistic patch made or is superior over all other available patches. If you are keen I can send it to you and you can have a go at it. Let me know.
nar its alright mate, i'll wait till you have made sure of it :D

Jonah, the English Domestic patch has finally arrived  . I am sure you will be aware of this just thought I should let you know. Also make sure you dont leave out Butcher and Stewart ;)
Yes Ravi...I d/l the patch, but having a few teething probs at the moment. It looks pretty good though :).
There's two seperate exe's to use , a National Champ (coloured kits) and a County Champ(whites). Will these use the installed files from your patch? I take it they will, as configs/safs remain the same....

btw, I tried the batting in your latest files, and it's a real challenge. There is a definate feeling of having to play each batsman in before doing anything risky (very realistic!). On a dry wicket I only managed to struggle to 180 odd/9 (50 overs...me Windies v cpu (SL). Vaas' figures 10 4 20 2  ..An excellent spell. My highest batsman was Jacobs (53). This was my first try with these files, and I lost a couple to run outs, so I'm hoping to improve next time! An excellent set though :) .
Haven't tried the cpu run chase yet...

Jonah, atlast a very much workable and a good patch to test for you. There were edges, bowled, played on, some brilliant batting as well as some smart bowling ;)

Played this game in Sharjah as Zimbabwe against the Poms, have to confess I enjoyed Vaughan and Colingwood's batting. The way the CPU picked up the singles, placed in the gaps to pick up the boundries and the controlled aggression it displayed. I enjoyed watching the inning although I bowled. I was playing a game before and then the CPU had scored 70/1 off 13 and it was yet again a repeat but the tormentor this time was Vaughan. Have a look at the following scores and the way CPU played.

As regards to the county patch, it should use our new config/safs for sure. I hope Vineet has used the patched version of Cricket2002.exe, you will soon know it though.

That looks an excellent innings Ravi...Colly's spider shows shots all round, and a good realistic total at the end.
Must be almost there now!!
Send those new files asap mate   !

Right away, Mike. It should be there with you by now. Also just to make sure the CPU avoids playing the cover shot for yorkers in the death, alter the type from aggressive to moderate. It hit me for a boundry and also got bowled once for the yorkers that I bowled in this game. I probably bowled around 8-10 yorkers in the whole game.

Hi guys,
Thanks Ravi I recieved your mail.I want to tell u that if you want I can help u with these testings as I am a very eager to do this and I am bored to play with the old files.

I will email you the Star Sports Popup again, amber22. I will send you the new files for you to test but right now am doing a bit of work on those. I am redefining the ball properties at the moment, trying to make it a bit more realistic. With this new settings it should play by rules, the fasters bowlers are the best when played on Damp, Green and Hard Wickets. Spinners on normal, hard and dusty pitches. Also to get the ball to come on quite quickly on green, hard and be nippy on damp pitches for fast bowlers. It is looking good at the moment but it will take a day more before am finished with those. Will certainly send you those to test.

Thanks ravi , I somehow got the Star Sports Logo. And while sending the files please tell me to test on what kind of pitches so that there is not a mixup between me and jonah

The tweaks are great Ravi..I had a very enjoyable match on hard pitch..really tests all your skills. great work!

Cheers, Shailesh. Its good to get a feedback or two really. I dont really know why but for some reason you cannot get enough feedback from those who use the patch. It really helps if a line or two are written about the patch, we can further tweak or decide its time to give up tweaking and start enjoying the patch. This comment ofcourse doesnt apply to Jonah infact he is proactive in his feedback.

Also if you can please mention the scores of both you and the CPU it will really help. Was the batting a bit too tough or was it perfect. Did the CPU pace its innings well, did it lose wickets on its way and make the bowling interesting.

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks again Shailesh. Let me know where I can send you the latest patch(which are much more realistic) if you wish, will also include you when I send it to Jonah and Amber.

Ravi,

I played Pakistan v England (cpu) on hard pitch. cpu started off well at more than 6 an over. I was able to get back to reduce it to 37/2 - Solanki bowled from a full length delivery and vaughan run out trying to steal a quick single. Then cpu put together a big partnership with Tresco,Flintoff - 100 was reached at the end of 15th over. During the partnership Flintoff struggled initially with some top edges to thirdman fence and some inside edges as well. That was realistic. Shoaib went for runs and also Razzaq (swing) but Sami bowled well to the field which was important. During overs 15-25, I was able to get couple of wickets from Mahmood (med fast) as both Tresco (65) and flintoff (48) edged to first slip, cpu 150/4 at 25. At this stage I was looking at 300+. To bit of a surprise, McGrath launched an allout attack from this stage reaching his 50 off just 29 balls. Mahmood who bowled well so far and Malik (off) went for runs. To check him I had to bring back Shoaib and got some wickets. Once Mcgrath edged to slip, I was able to clean up the tail quickly - England allout for 244 in 38th over. Overall I had to keep experimenting with my field and bowl according to it. As my own rule I don't bowl too many yorkers and rarely more than 1 per over. bowling was certainly enjoyable and challenging.
On to batting, It was difficult to get quick runs from 6 hit shots so I had to keep looking for singles. I was able to keep the runrate close to 5 but it wasn't easy. Oddly cpu used only 3 bowlers for most of 30 overs, Gough finished with 10-3-29-1. I had to take risks to keep up with the runrate and lost wickets. At one stage I needed 53 from last 10 with 4 wickets in hand..but I took some unnecessary risks (thanks to some inviting fields <_< ) and lost by 20 runs. So again patience was the key.
Only thing I had difficuly with was that bowling cursor was showing up late when I started with bowl.exe so I had to bowl with the original exe. Also I think the hook shot and hit over sq. leg can be made little more difficult, I was able to hit 6s fairly easliy (though 1 batsman was caught on the boundry).
I'll play my next match on dusty pitch. pl. copy me on the next tweaks: [email protected]

:scooter:

Thanks for that Shailesh, it is very detailed and very much appreciated. I suppose you might have been playing with the old files are you? There have been quite a few versions since the one sent to you by Jonah .In the later versions middle and lower order also were made stronger, only the last 3-4 batsman were made not to show much of batting skills. Let me know if you received the files in the last couple of days from Jonah. The comment on the shots are noted as well, will set those right.

Ravi,
I got the files from Jonah couple of days back..so look like I have the latest?
btw any idea about the bowling cursor problem? I ran the setup fresh before bowling but still it was showilg late (like when batting).
