Test Cricket tweak

Sounds interesting Ravi....
Anything to add from you on this tweak Jonah. Just thought if we were going to make the gameplay realistic, we might as well tweak the way the bowling is on different types of pitches. This is to ensure that you choose the right type of bowlers and choosing a wrong type might prove a disaster. The CPU batsman has responded very well to these changes, it plays backfoot shots more on hard and green wickets for Faster Bowlers. It plays frontfoot ones to faster bowlers on damp, normal and dusty pitches. The spinners are sorted out very well by CPU batsman as well, its looking good at the moment. Also changed the bounce for fast bowlers, the bounce on damp pitches sucks but the ball travels fairly quick on the pitch which makes even the medium pacers look like Lees and Akhtars. The bounce on Green and Hard are quite high, you will need to play backfoot shots on these pitches to score runs. The bounce on dusty and dry piches for fast bowlers is marginally higher than on damp pitches making the short bowling simply fruitless. Keeping these theories in mind we will need to choose the best possible options and also play well to win a game. Fingers crossed, hopefully this will all work very well, I could stop tweaking :scooter: and let you enjoy the game :ice: .

Ravi,
I got the files from Jonah couple of days back..so look like I have the latest?
btw any idea about the bowling cursor problem? I ran the setup fresh before bowling but still it was showilg late (like when batting).
Shailesh,

I am not sure about that one, will have a look at the installer. I will have a look and let you know about it, I am sure I didnt have any issues with the bowling cursor.

S,
did you check the values in the l_hard cfg file (Target size)? As Ravi will concur, I had a similar problem a while bach, but Ravi sent me a new bowl.exe and it was OK. Every patch Ravi has sent on has been fine since  ...

On to the wickets Ravi, Shailesh may well be your man. He did some tinkering with the bowling files in Zimrahil's patch, so he may have some ideas. One thing we tried that I felt didn't come off too well, (although Shailesh may disagree :sw: !!), was that the ball speed off the wicket (after the bounce) was increased to replicate faster bowlers (as the cfg's won't let human user bowlers increase speed). My personal view was that it didn't look too realistic; the ball seemed to to go too fast after it pitched. I'm not sure if you've done this in your cfg's, but take care, it may not be to everyone's taste. What do you think Shailesh?
Other than that, what you've described sounds pretty good. It won't make batting too difficult, either for human or cpu though? Different wickets need a different style of play in reality, especially in Test matches, where this style of patching will come into it's own (particularly if you use Shailesh's GamTweak to change the wicket daily, so a different approach is needed for each day).

Noted your suggestions there Jonah. There were some issues with the carry to the keeper when I tweaked the speed and bounce for damp and wet pitches, somehow I have got through that. I will do a quick test of few overs both batting and bowling and it should be through. Whos on for a game on wet or damp pitch for now, probably Amber or you. Shailesh has said above he would like to play on a dusty or dry pitch. Probably one of you Jonah or Amber will need to play on normal or wet pitch, You can choose what you prefer. I will try out the hard pitch.

With the bowling cursor, I wanted to make it huge so that we struggle to get the line bang on each time hence increased the size of the cursor. I am not sure but you guys can suggest if we really want much bigger size cursor size maybe size of 3/4 of the pitch. Already CPU scoring rate is quite good, not sure if this will hamper the joy in bowling. Let me know.

Hmmm. My mouth is watering.I cant wait to get into action with the latest patch.

And Ravi while sending the files please make sure that the bowling cursor thing.............?

I can try that out on Normal pitch as Ravi has said while Jonah can try on wet pitch.

I hope you have no problems

Not a problem there Amber, will send the files to Jonah. Jonah make sure you play on the wet or damp surfaces only as the other piches will not really be tuned in this patch.

Ok I'll start afresh on a damp surface when I get the files :) .
re the bowlnig cursor, it's an interesting theory, but I'm yet to be convinced. I suppose the only way to test it out would be to try it out. I think it should only apply to cpu bowling though, as it would result in too many wides if used for human bowling...

Sorry about that mate, I suppose you can complete your current game with the previous files and then get to a new game with the one Ill send you.

Jonah, looks like I didnt relay my idea properly before. The bowling cursor size I was refering to was for Human bowling, the CPU bowling cursor will stay the same i.e, showing up very late. I am not sure how this will go in with you people but it made sure I could not bowl proper line each time, why only the line I found it hard to produce a yorker every now and then. While I was aiming at the blockhole, it used to end up either way of the stumps. The concern you expressed about the wides are valid but its only to start with. After getting used, the wides will not be too many maybe 5-10 an inning. I will send this one to you have a go and if you reckon it is fun then we will implement in all our patches.

I am still to get the files
I know you are eager :plane: but just give it an hour Amber, will send you for sure :scooter: . I am not going to post here, will email you.

Amber, don't worry, if Ravi says he'll send you the files then that's what he'll do. He won't forget (unless they get left in the 'Outbox', eh Ravi ;) :throw: :D ).
