Test Your Internet Speed

That is an awesome speed Kshitz...

At uni:

Probably my account at uni is capped at around 40-50Mbps. We actually have a dedicated 1Gbps link!

Oh god. I would go absolutely crazy with that connection! Amazing!

I hope I get good internet in college. One of the unis i'm applying to claims that they have the fastest internet in the world, second next to only NASA. Its one of my top choices so we'll find out soon enough hopefully :p

The shameful thing is, that while the local networks are always that fast, when I want to access long distance websites (like say in the US) this bandwidth comes to no use, because somewhere along the route some bottleneck comes up. :p Browsing and downloading from the most commonly used websites, I've been able to get 10-12Mbps generally, while occasionally crossing the 20Mbps mark. Download managers that split up downloads into multiple connections help in this regard. I downloaded Visual Studio (licensed as a uni student) at around 2.5MB/s!

But this speed comes in real handy in the local networks. I can access servers based in India, blindingly fast! If some file I need has a mirror in India, its awfully fast. And if its in Delhi... well I don't generally notice such files downloading. :p

My net is porting next week from a Telstra to Optus DSLAM, still with Internode - just get to triple my quota for roughly the same price (50 to 150GB, $85 bundled compared to $60+$26), so thought I'd post up a speed test to have a point of comparison.

Okay this is beyond my expectations now!
