The Apple Thread

Yeah, the quad core unit + extras.

Unbelievable. Like I'm all for Mac OS X, but not to get ripped off like that. I would've been able to build him a cracker of a Windows media build for a fraction of the $5000 he shelled out. I'm sure the Xeon processor has an advantage over the current gen Sandy Bridge - which is probably the only reason why I would see it befitting, but at that price ... totally not relative. Did I mention it was only the quad core model, now I'm not a total multimedia whiz, but I'm pretty sure it'd be more beneficial to get more cores - something of which is coming out in a couple or so months with the Sandy Bridge E range.

Anyway, for all I know hes probably wiping his ass with $100 notes :p

Yea the Mac Pros are in desperate need of an update. I don't think the Xeons are as good as the Sandy bridge range either. You could probably build a Hackintosh that would do just as well for half the price.

My friend installed OSX on an HP Mini netbook. OSX recognises the netbook as a Macbook Pro. It works brilliantly, much cheaper than a proper Mac. Only thing he had to buy (apart from OSX) was a Wi-fi adapter, which was $20.

Anyone here ventured onto Lion? I've just got home tonight and in the 10 minutes I've been playing round with it I'm very impressed. The fullscreen, the moving between past webpages, the gestures (more of them) are pretty good.

I'm waiting to find one massive flaw in the system, its Apple's own trick. I'll probably end up not having to hold my laptop in a certain way else it'll combust.

Lion is pretty boss. I don't think it'll work as well on desktop computers though. It is HIGHLY multi-touch gesture based.

Defo think more trackpads will be sold now

I'm finding it hard to see many of the differences between Lion and Snow Leopard :/

The 'features' seemed to be geared more towards creating a streamlined and convenient OS interface.

No real gamechangers MHO.

The iOS 5 beta is out. I'll have a play with it later.

You have a Dev account :(

I wanna play but due to my inability to do anything technical, it would be a huge waste of money to do so! Let us know what you think, I've had a look at some reviews and OTA (over the air) updates gets me slightly excited as it'll mean smaller updates and basically remove the bane of my life that is find those damn white cables to update!!

I think its pretty nice. I use mission control a LOT. Definitely a step up over spaces imo.

I got the OS for free (bought my mac after June 6th, so free upgrade) and its only $30 anyways. I think it is worth it.

How many of you are a little disappointed that Apple has fallen for the "phablet craze"? I am one of them. I just hate phones with screen sizes that look like a computer on hand. Apple zeroed in on the perfect size of 4". Now they seem to be going for 4.7" and 5.5". I am definitely not going to go for the 5,5". I hope the 4.7" is not too bad. I still wish they can retain the 4" model and sell it for people who want phones, not phablets.

But the next big thing should be the smartwatch. Can't wait to see how the form factor works for it. Currently using the Fitbit Flex. I want a more robust device that you can interact with, and get the data in a better way.

Any one can recommend any good chargers for the 5th gen?
Have to spend at least £17 for every 1 month for this garbage. Dirty game by Apple.
