A very valid point being made on the BBC going with the point above about specialists:

Forget England have never replaced Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook.

Forget England have never replaced Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell.

England haven't even replaced Paul Collingwood.
Liam Dawson might get a MBE for his part in the World Cup squad...

That is extremely true. Although I would argue that Joe Root replaces Ian Bell quite nicely.

Yeah Bell is perhaps not the best example in there but I would rather see Bell there in the place of Denly!

Australia have got a total on the board. England can thank Archer. At 120/2 the urn was halfway across the ocean. I felt par was 225. But, it all depends on the overheads on day 2. We will see.

This is why when everyone here was rejoicing, I was very suspicious. England bowled horribly during that partnership between Warner and Labuschagne. I was right.. England's issues were apparent before this series began. They have gone from being test specialists to being limited overs specialists and I am convinced that they are white ball specialists under very specific certain conditions. This is not good.

Well yes, naturally!

:eng: :bat: Rory Burns
:eng: :bat: Dom Sibley
:eng: :bat: ... I don't know. How about James Vince again? Pretty sure Northeast wouldn't last at three
:eng: :bat: Joe Root
:eng: :bat: Ollie Pope
:eng: :ar: Ben Stokes
:eng: :wk: Ben Foakes
:eng: :bwl: Jofra Archer
:eng: :bwl: Jack Leach
:eng: :bwl: Stuart Broad
:eng: :bwl: Jimmy Anderson

There's even a nice Ian Bell sized hole in that side. He could probably captain it

Surprise surprise

Vince is averaging 20 so far in red ball this year. So Northeast could be worth a shot. Maybe we need to just give in and say Gary Ballance is the best of the rest and call him back.

And I thought 85 was bad...

Funny to see English crowd continuing to boo Warner :rolleyes:rolleyes Nothing much to cheer for I guess

Brilliant stuff from the Aussies. This is England's 3rd less than 100 score in the last 6-7 games right? 1 each against WI, Ire and now Aus

Root is mentally frazzled....that drop!!![DOUBLEPOST=1566575911][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah the booing is absurd and pathetic.
