If there ever was a time to silence the criticism of not converting 50s into 100s, it's this. So what's Root goona do?
This aged like a fine wine. Seriously though, it does not seem unusual for Root to do all the hard work to get in properly and then to throw it away after a break in play. I don't know if that's something Root specifically does or if it's just a human thing

Can't predict it yet. I remember India chasing a 459 run target against New Zealand at Auckland back in 2014 and they were some 350+ with 5 wickets in hand and also more than a day's play was left and India were bundled out under 400. But I also remember West Indies chasing down 330+ against England at this very venue (Leeds) back in 2017. So match still hangs in balance.[DOUBLEPOST=1566715782][/DOUBLEPOST]

Honestly I believe he should step down from the Captaincy but the question arises who could replace Root as the Captain ?

And why should he step down? You feel Kohli should continue and be given time after all the crap he's dished out to us for 4+ years, yet you want Root to let go in the very little time he has been captain? Unbelievable!

There is light years of difference between their individual performance when they are Captains of their respective teams. Root was a better Test batsman than Virat Kohli when he wasn't the Captain and now you can see where he is lying at. And what you are calling as crap is part of every player's learning curve.

LOLOL! So Kohli who has been a captain for 4 plus years and is still pathetic is on a learning curve, but Root who has been in the job in one format for barely any length of time in comparison to Kohli could not be on one?! Wow! Class! :clap

The critcism over Kohli's Captain seems like he has actually killed someone. And thanks for that compliment ;)

Hush.

I'd be inclined to suggest here that a win might not be the best long-term thing for English cricket, but who cares - it'd be good to watch.

The good thing about you guys is you acknowledge that there is a problem. We guys are obsessed with numbers and results.

England need to find an opener, they know that. 4 and 5 in my opinion is settled. Bairstow is batting where he fits but I am convinced he's a terrible terrible wicket keeper. I think, Buttler or Foakes should do that and bat 7. The bowling was never an issue to begin with. I like the make of Burns. I think he's that nuggety typical dig in to bat for your life bloke. I'm not sure about Denly.

And if England lose from here, they should give themselves a nice kick up the backside twice. Conditions are clearly better to bat now than the other days and their batters are very well suited to them in the sense that they score quickly if they stay there.

Bairstow showing he can bat. He needs to drop the gloves and instead train as a specialist top order batsmen. Get Foakes in to take the gloves, I think I’d keep Buttler in the team too. Captain material for me. Denly may have kept his test place for now too.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
