England coach Trevor Bayliss on Test Match Special: "Anything is possible. We saw that in the last Test match. We have got a couple guys out there and guys in the shed who are more than capable of scoring a hundred. We know it will be difficult but as Ben Stokes showed last week, anything is possible.

"When you lose a couple of wickets like that close to the close is a little disappointing but we are upbeat about what we might be able to do tomorrow. Hopefully we bat well, save the game and have a beer afterwards.

"We already had a chat. Everyone is psyched to go out tomorrow and be the one or two guys who go out and score a hundred tomorrow."

Trevor eating the same mushrooms I had.....[DOUBLEPOST=1567880959][/DOUBLEPOST]Such a non statement from Bayliss......just because you say I need to do something doesn't mean you can......as has been proven.

Stokes to become captain of the test team after this series?

Jason Roy protected from the new ball. Now in the first over.
This is funny, very very funny hahaha

Edit: Mind you it’s probably not the worst thing for his ego...

Every time Smith gets runs for them I feel extra gutted because he has dual nationality. Surely he would never have chosen us over them would he?

Amazes me when I think he used to play for my county in 2011,we wouldn't be able to attract him now

When you look at the Aussies attack it really shows up the lack of variety in ours. Yes we have Jofra who can bowl rapid and Broad who has rolled back the years this series.

One of the biggest thing missing in our attack is a proper quick left armer. We also need to find someone to come in and take over from Broad eventually.

Any suggestions for either of these problems are most welcome. I know Stone could well be a regular when he overcomes this injury but left armer is a complete mystery.

Thankfully he is leaving after this series, let's hope we actually appoint a coach focused on test cricket.

I think that the real difference has been that the Aussie bowlers have been metronomic in hitting the right length and line throughout the series whereas we have generally bowled too short

More importantly, Australia have always had their three bowlers bowl consistently good stuff except for Starc on day 3 of this test while England have always lacked a third good pacer alongside Archer’s relative inexperience that leads to tiny mistakes creeping in. Had Anderson been fit, this England bowling attack would have been a lot better in restricting Australia’s run flow.[DOUBLEPOST=1567927275][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes, it is a complete mystery that the left armer who was man of the series versus the number one side in test cricket a year ago hasn’t played a single game up until now.

Can England survive? I wouldn't rule it out. They can't win for sure but can hang on for a draw. Roy wouldn't find any better opportunity than this to prove his worth.

There's also the gigantic Stokes factor, who I'm sure will put a heavy price on his wicket. Bulter also found some form at the right time. England would have felt a lot comfortable though if it had Woakes' batting available for use.

No chance imo. The only 2 people I reckon could hang in for a long time were out in the first over yesterday. Stokes can hang in too but it’s a long shot, it really is. It’ll be over by 2:00 I reckon.

Someone tell Roy it's the World cup final and were chasing 365. Might work out better than him trying to bat for the draw.
