Watched the episode last night, it was ok but missed a few fairly obvious gags/opportunities and wasn't that funny.
Howard and Leonard go on a double date in which Leonard ridicules Penny for believing in psychics. This has potential but it really wasn't exploited, maybe it will be in future episodes, but they tried to cram two plots with so much potential into 20 mins or so.
So with Howard and Leonard on a double date that left Raj with Sheldon, Raj bribes Sheldon into going to a "party" at the university and Sheldon unwittingly does very well with a girl despite twice revealing that Raj is wanting to copulate with one of them - funny as fu ck that! Anyway Raj bribes Sheldon to go on a "second date" in his copulation quest, Sheldon is unwittingly doing very well with his "date" and the very last bit was funny but could have done with a bit more time to be hilarious. He basically wants to go to bed, suggests they go to bed and he is thinking alone, she is thinking them both, and is surprised when he says goodnight and walks off. Surprisingly she follows him, asks if she can spend some time in his room to which he surprisingly says yes in a Sheldon way (can't remember words exactly), but then says he'll sleep in Leonard's room as she is parking on his bed!
Not sure how they'll follow that plot through. While it would be quite funny Sheldon being the object of someone's lust, how long can that be funny/realistic without ending in a) her giving up or b) Sheldon getting some? The latter would ruin the character, the former is so much more likely. It's not like Due South where Benton is good looking, charming and polite, and what women are looking for. And while he might share some personality traits with Benton, he's not at all interested in the female of the species, collecting and taking with him his new "limited edition Green Lantern lantern" and later wearing his Incredible Hulk fists signed by Stan Lee.
Not sure Howard being in a relationship makes most of his comic potential. It's like when Chandler and Monica got together, for me damaged Chandler as a character in terms of what made him funny. And now Leonard is with Penny is the humour aspect of them being geeks with no real prospect of girlfriends somewhat if temporarily redundant?
