The Budget Draft: Project 200

Jasprit-Bumrahjpg

It's time for a fast bowler and I know just the man. Capable of express pace while skilfully controlling the joint weapons of in- and outswing, Jasprit Bumrah is a pretty unique bowler. He is also a rather dreadful batsman with a Test average of under three. This pair of factors must make him highly sought after; regardless, I'm happy to have him.

That’s a great pick. I honestly didn’t know he was such a bad batsman, you assume most modern players are a bit better!
It starts right from his batting stance itself. It just isn't suitable to bat against express pace or a quality spin bowler.

My two picks go to

Wasim Akram who will be played as an all rounder

:bat: 2898 runs @ 22.64 (best 257*)
:bwl: 415 wickets @ 23.62 (25 5WI, 5 10WI, best 7/119)

Fred Titmus another all rounder, his first class career saw him take over 2,500 wickets and make over 20,000 runs

:bat: 1449 runs @ 22.29 (best 84*)
:bwl: 153 wickets @ 32.22 (7 5WI, 0 10WI, best 7/79)

Have you ever heard of Brett Schultz? If not I'll give you a moment to look for him on YouTube and you'll see why I picked him. Quite possibly the fastest left-armer of all time (it's between him and Starc) but with his career curtailed by a glass body, this draft is perfrct for Schultz: he'll be bowling mostly at dross so there's no need for long spells.

Test Stats (9 matches)
:bat: 9 runs @ 1.50 (best 6)
:bwl: 37 wickets @ 20.24 (2 5WI, best 5/48)

I love everyone's teams, considering this is my first time, I'm quite happy with how it's turning out, although I feel like I could've saved more by few different picks, but overall I'm happy with how it's turning out

@DalePlaysCricket

A top pick. And while not in my first choice XI, Schultz (and Akram just before) are the only players selected thus far that were on my long list.

I didn’t expect to get so far into the draft before losing people I was potentially considering!

my choice is Alec Stewart. Averaging a tick under 40 and so costing me 39, Stewie will bat 6 and keep wicket.

  1. Jimmy Cook (cost 17)
  2. Andy Lloyd (cost 0)
  3. -
  4. -
  5. Stuart Law (cost 0)
  6. Alec Stewart (39)
  7. -
  8. -
  9. George Lohmann (cost 8)
  10. Sydney Barnes (cost 8)
  11. -

  12. I have used 72 and have 128 to go. @CerealKiller is up next

So far the only player I've lost out on was Lohmann. Then my Lohmann plan-B in Syd Barnes. Reasonably sure my plan-C will be fine

Since im drafting with my hands over my eyes, Schultz is the player I've come close to missing out on, and that's only because I made him on Cricket 19 last week...

:wkb:Again, a little on the expensive side, but Prasanna Jayawardena is arguably the most underrated 'keeper of all time. He was extremely skilled behind the stumps, more than living up to the standards set by his predecessor, Kumar Samgakkara. In front of the stumps, he averaged a decent 29.
