:sri: :arwk: Tillakaratne Dilshan basis 2014 WT20 Trophy

Though Dilshan is a T20 World Cup winner, I have picked him based on his ODI World Cup prowess. Dilshan is one of the most underrated batters of his generation, being overshadowed by the likes of Sanga and Mahela. Plus he used to regularly bowl in every match and always got a breakthrough for his team. His Dilscoop was so satisfying to watch. Even stats-wise, he looks like a beast, averaging 53 with the bat and 4 hundreds to his name with a healthy strike rate of 93... Even in the bowling department he took a respectable 18 wickets in 22 innings with an economy of around 4.5 per match. Too good for a part timer. And to top all of it, this guy can keep wickets as well.. Not to forget that he ended up as the top run getter in the 2011 CWC.

Average of 63.43 with 8 fifties and SR of 91, the incredibly underrated Michael Clarke comes in at #3 for us.

Good pick, certainly would have been in my XI, injury issues resulted in a curtailed career for him otherwise he would have ended up being one of the stalwarts of Oz. Only thing is that number three is a little high for him. But considering your batting order, number 3 was the only option.

You are right.

About the batting order, I think he fits it fine as he could player pacers and also had the ability to use his fit against the spinners making him a brilliant accumulator which is exactly what we needee..

Him and Yuvi are perfect to build the innings with ABD being our fulcrum player as all the gears in the world to play as per the situation. Maxi and Kapil paji can go big of course Hogg and even Vaas can throw willow too so personally, I am extremely pleased with how the team has shaped up.

Actually his WC SR was 94+!! Wish I could see Clarke, AB (keeper in this side though) and Yuvi guarding the covers to point region and Maxi along with Kapil paji taking care of mid/long on/off whereas the pacers guarding the boundaries and throwing in with their bullet arm. Truly a well rounded side, eh?

Over to @Viper.

I’ll pick later today

2007 was a pretty good World Cup for Clarkey but he was on and off in the next two. A much deserved world cup win as captain though!

Joining Viv and Marshall from the Windies World Cup Winning Side, is the dashing opener-

Sir Gordon Greenidge will open for me alongside Gavaskar. He averages 45.04 in ODIs and a tad bit lower in Tests, but he was surely one of the finest of his time and among Windies' all-time batting greats.

@noducksallowed make your double pick and ping me back

I get two picks and I have my team almost ready and primed to beat everyone else. First up, beefing up the bowling is none other than:

Mohammad "Na I can't "kiss" the turf" Shami

And for his underrated exploits Joe "I'm just a nice guy" Root

I am afraid that Shami is ineligible since he hasn't won a world cup yet, and since you have also exhausted your proxy pick with Sobers, you have to discard Shami.

Good spot! I was doing this in between work and got frazzled...just felt like 2023 they had to win and no other result was acceptable.

So I will choose Colin "Faster than England" Croft -

Shami was a brilliant pick but not to be. I think Joe Root is a little off-place for his style of play. There is still a fantastic player for that spot who is unpicked.
