I have one pick left and that will be my proxy. Happy to have saved that for the last it's certainly not gonna be the least

:ind: :bat: Suresh Raina (CWC Champion - 2011)

I desperately needed a left handed middle order batter in my team, which was full of right handed batsmen until now, and Suresh Raina just clicks. I think the world has forgotten the Raina of the yester-years where he was so reliable and consistent, always held up one end, quick between the wickets and batted with a healthy strike rate. Other batsmen loved building partnerships with him. A complete team player who celebrates his partners achievements even more than they do.

Brilliant pick although don't you think Symonds at 4 and Raina at 5 would make more sense?

@CerealKiller
Umm if you see the numbers more closely, the brilliant 7/20 spell aside, he has managed to grab only 9 wickets in 7 matches... He was an excellent utility player though

He still picked 9 wickets in 7 and has overall 16 wickets with avg of 12, so basically whenever he bowled atleast made a breakthrough, not bad to bowl alongside Holding and Roberts, plus he did well with bat too.

If this were only an ODI draft I would put Raina at 5. But since this is a limited overs draft with ODIs+T20Is hence I am putting Raina at 4. He plays more often in Top-Middle order in T20s.

Ngl since you said you can use any stat to justify picks, I thought this was general all-format. That's why I picked Gavaskar and Jimmy at the first place

Hey man, you certainly can. I never said that you cannot use your general-all-format stats to justify a pick.

I made my pick and team using my own justifications. But that doesn't mean I discard other forms of validations for a pick.

As long as your pick is able to justify its inclusion in the exclusive line up, it doesn't matter what format/stat/etc is used.

Yup exactly my thoughts . Cool

@Verified Enigma

I have vague memories of watching Ranatunga's innings against India, on vhs I think for the 96 world cup. Sri Lanka won the game there.

:pak: :bwl: Mohammad Amir
via the 2009 WT20 basis

Mohammad Amir would have ended up being one of the best pace bowlers of all time if not for the scandals early on in his career and ugly politics later on following his return. And his only stint at the ODI World Cup proves that, where he ended up taking 17 wickets in only 8 matches he played in. I enjoy watching Amir bowl, he is still 31, I hope he somehow gets eligible to play for UK and we see him back in internationals. Well one can always wish...
