Beautiful, finally an Ashes story worth following. Wish I chose a better player as I don't think Symonds will be in the Ashes XI. Or will he? Actually, Lee, make sure he is in there so this story is successful. Thanks.:D

The amount of posts in this thread will triple if Hooper plays :p

Just to let you know, all the players are in the game now so it's full steam ahead. The 1st test will start tomorrow, on the same day as in real life the England Lions take on the timid Aussies. :)

Australia to win 4-0 with Hussey taking MOTS. You heard it here first! :D

Really looking foward to this. C'mon Australia!

DAY 1

urn.jpg

The eagerly awaited PlanetCricket Ashes series is underway.

England selected the following team for the first Test:

1. adyhorn
2. Simbazz
3. Will NA
4. Holdenator
5. Highlander999
6. Burnsy1
7. evertonfan (wk) (c)
8. PaulNixon1
9. CG123
10. treva
11. Pakistani Army

The big announcement was that wicketkeeper evertonfan would captain the side for the first game, and the management did not rule out the possibility of having 5 different captains, claiming 'it doesn't matter who we have as captain, we'll still beat those convicts'.

For those conv...err, Aussies, they picked the following:

1. hedger14
2. Roofrom50
3. WORLD CHAMPIONS (c)
4. Left Hander
5. Mad Snake
6. Hooper
7. biggy09
8. OffCutters (wk)
9. IloveGilly
10. Covvy
11. Octavius

Big drinking weight lifting larger-than-life character Hooper lines up for the inaugural PlanetCricket Ashes Test, a decision surely to liven this game up no end. Captaining the side is controversial WORLD CHAMPIONS, who some of his team mates believe he is having an identity crisis.

England's skipper evertonfan dared to be different and guessed correctly with tails at the toss, making the most of the sunny conditions he decided to bat first.

Finally, we were off...

MORNING

5.4 overs: Disaster for England! adyhorn tries to play the on drive to an angled delivery from Covvy and Left Hander takes a good catch in the slips.

adyhorn c. Left Hander b. Covvy 6 (21)

Out comes Will NA. He'll be nervous.

22.1: Hooper puts too much flight in that delivery to Simbazz and the batsmen run two to bring up the fifty for England. They've pulled it back after that early wicket.

England 50-1 (133 balls)

31.1: Oh no! The first ball of the last over before lunch and Simbazzz is gone! IloveGilly bowls around the wicket and the batsman misjudges it completely, completely misread the bounce of the ball. Big wicket for Australia.

Simbazz lbw b. IloveGilly 35 (95)

Holdenator's got a difficult five balls to face.

31.6: And that's it for the morning session, the first session of the first ever PlanetCricket Ashes Test. Honours even I think, crucial for the tourists that they broke the 63 run partnership between Simbazz and Will NA in that last over.

Lunch, Day 1
England 1st innings: 79-2 (32 overs)
Will NA 34*, Holdenator 1*

Join us later on for the second session of play. Enjoy your lunch!

Great job. I'm happy with where we are at the moment.

The presentation is simple but fun to follow. Can't wait for the next update. :)

Aww, I wasn't picked. That's it, I'm packing my bags and getting out of here. Might go see Benaud in his vineyard in France.

DAY 1

The first PlanetCricket Ashes Test is in to its second session. Resuming from their sausages on 79 for 2, could England build a total or would the Ozzers do what they usually do and take control? Let's get down there to find out.

AFTERNOON

41.3: A confident push into the covers from Will NA brings a single for England, and also their 100. On the first morning of an Ashes Test, there are worse places to be than 100 for 2.

England 100-2 (249 balls)

47.1: The first milestone of the series. Will NA knocks the ball to mid on, runs a single and brings up his half century. Batting no.3 he's done a really good job in steadying the ship for the hosts.

Will NA 50 not out (119) 2 fours, 0 sixes

63.6: A brilliant session comes to an end for England, they have batted all afternoon without losing a wicket. This partnership is worth 90 for the 3rd wicket between Will NA and Holdenator. Australia need a good session later this evening to get back into this.

Tea, Day 1
England 1st innings: 167-2 (64 overs)
Will NA 77*, Holdenator 42*

One more session to go on the first day. See you later for that.

Slow run rate but only 2 wickets lost at this stage is extremely valuable. If we can end the day 2 or 3 down then we will be in full control of the match.

England > Australia!
