Story The PlanetCricket Ashes [ICC 2008]

Damn, it was dark couldn't see the ball very well and tried to block it down:spy

Well done Will_NA well deserved century and play of the day.

The game's now evenly balanced. I played well getting two wickets.

Pretty decent day for us, except Willy's innings inning nothing was right for English . Our bowlers will get those 4 wickets before lunch tomorrow ;) btw ... congrats Will for the hundred :)

On the way to the crease, he sledged Aussie captain WORLD CHAMPIONS, remarking 'Are you lost or something? You ain't Aussie, fool!'.

That's the best bit!

Had the first catch of the PlanetCricket Ashes! Some late wickets in the day helped us turn it around.

DAY 2

England resume the first ever PlanetCricket Ashes Test on 290-6, with captain evertonfan and bowler PaulNixon1 at the crease. Can the Australians blast them out before lunch?

MORNING

98.5: Pitched up delivery from IloveGilly and it catches the edge of evertonfan's bat as he attemps a cover drive. Not exactly a captain's innings.

evertonfan c. OffCutters b. IloveGilly 34 (53) 6 fours, 0 sixes

CG123 is in now, right into the tail.

101.3: PaulNixon1 pushes the ball away from a single to bring up the 300 for England. Certainly a decent total in the first innings.

England 300-7 (609 balls)

109.4: A plucky innings from PaulNixon1 comes to an end. He plays all around a straight ball from biggy09 and he is on the way back to the pavilion.

PaulNixon1 b. biggy09 23 (42) 2 fours, 0 sixes

Here comes treva.

124.3: It looked like these two batsmen were going to make it to lunch, but IloveGilly destroys that. It was a good ball that nipped away onto the off stump.

CG123 b. IloveGilly 29 (82) 2 fours, 0 sixes

Pakistani Army is bricking it, but he manages a point and laugh at WORLD CHAMPIONS before he takes his guard.

126.6: The final wicket partnership survives to the end of the session. 127 overs out there now for the Aussies, they'll be getting restless for batting.

Lunch, Day 2
England 1st innings: 362-9 (127 overs)
treva 10*, Pakistani Army 11*

AFTERNOON

128.1: That didn't take long after lunch. IloveGilly gets his fifth wicket, treva hitting to the close catcher. At last England are all out.

treva c. Roofrom50 b. IloveGilly 10 (50) 1 four, 0 sixes

End Of Innings
England 1st innings: 366 all out (128.1 overs)
Pakistani Army 15*

The atmosphere is building as the England team appear out of the dressing room, as do the Australian openers hedger14 and Roofrom50. This is it, let's see how it goes.

15.4 A great start to the innings by Australia. hedger14 and Roofrom50 come together in the middle and punch gloves, celebrating their fifty run partnership.

Australia 50-0 (94 balls)

treva doesn't look too good here, the physio is on the ground. He's in a lot of pain.

25.6: A terrible session ends for England. They haven't taken a wicket and treva is unable to bowl because of an injury. The Aussies will be delighted. WORLD CHAMPIONS might be, too.

Tea, Day 2
Australia 1st innings: 87-0
hedger14 37*, Roofrom50 48*

EVENING

26.4: Brilliant! What a start to the evening for England! Highlander999 takes a very good catch at slip and PaulNixon1 is celebrating! hedger14 can't believe it, a rare ball that does something off the pitch has got him.

hedger14 c. Highlander999 b. PaulNixon1 37 (72) 6 fours, 0 sixes

WORLD CHAMPIONS comes to the crease. There was some confusion as stewards wrestled him to the ground, thinking he was a pitch invader, but finally it was realised he is the Australia captain and he's taking guard.

27.1: Roofrom50 makes it through for a quick single and there's his half century. A good knock at the top of the order, remember both of England's openers failed.

Roofrom50 50 not out (89 balls) 6 fours, 0 sixes

31.2: WORLD CHAMPIONS hits a four through the covers and the Australians have three figures.

Australia 101-1 (186 balls)

46.3: A wicket for England. A good ball from CG123 traps Roofrom50 in front and the umpire raises the index finger. England needed that badly.

Roofrom50 lbw b. CG123 82 (142) 10 fours, 0 sixes

Here comes Left Hander.

46.6: And there he goes again! Left Hander plays across the line, edges to Highlander999 who takes his second catch of the innings and after a very short stay Left Hander's back in the box. England back in this.

Left Hander c. Highlander999 b. CG123 0 (3)

Mad Snake is in.

51.3: Well caught! The first wicket of the series for Pakistani Army. Mad Snake goes after one and he's caught by Burnsy1 on the leg side close in. A middle order collapse for Australia here.

Mad Snake c. Burnsy1 b. Pakistani Army 3 (12)

Look out, trouble. It's Hooper.

53.3: WORLD CHAMPIONS takes a single off Pakistani Army and brings up his fifty. It hasn't been an easy time for him going into this series, and strangely his batting partner Hooper stays at the other end and doesn't congratulate him at all. The only sign he makes in an imitation of reeling in a fishing rod.

WORLD CHAMPIONS 50 not out (87 balls) 6 fours, 0 sixes

57.5: A four from Hooper and it's 200 up for the tourists.

Australia 202-4 (359 balls)

57.6: An exhausting day comes to a close. And you know, we are no closer to finding a winner. It's honours even as we leave the field for another day of this enthralling match.

Stumps, Day 2
Australia 1st innings: 202-4
WORLD CHAMPIONS 58*, Hooper 18*

Join us tomorrow for all the action on day 3.

ILOVEGILLY - 27.1-3-83-5 (ECONOMY RATE 3.07)

The Australians got themselves right back in it thanks to IloveGilly, who picked up a five-for on his PlanetCricket Ashes debut, including the huge wicket of centurion Will NA.

We've recovered fairly well. Really dissapointed to get a duck but the team seem to be going well.

2 catches for me :p Good start from our top order, need to keep that up to win the match, like the story mate.
