Premier League: Matchday 2 - Chelsea vs Spurs

Chelsea 5-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League
Matchday 2

The Chelsea fans sang their former manager's name throughout the match
Yes that’s right, you are reading correctly, the match ended 5-3 to the Blues. It was a glorious lunchtime at Chelsea Stadium where an eight goal thriller took place. Tottenham were ready for this challenge and were boosted my the news that star midfielder Jeremy Menez was fit to play after being out for five weeks with a thigh injury. It was also a special occasion for Spurs' manager Robbie Campbell who returned to his former club in the visiting dugout. In the first half it looked as if the home side would run away with it. Wayne Rooney scored twice within the first 12 minutes and Robinho added a goal from a stunning free kick fourteen minutes later to make it 3-0. Ashley Young reduced the deficit by heading the ball into the back of the net on 43 minutes to put the game at 3-1. That was how it stayed until half-time. In the second half Chelsea started brightly and scored their 4th goal of the afternoon with Sergio Ramos’ freekick on the edge of the area on 54 minutes. Spurs never gave up and Manchester United target Jeremy Menez made it 4-2 nearing the hour mark. Berbatov’s volley past the keeper in the 72nd minute gave the North London side real hope with the score at 4-3, however Chelsea made sure of their victory when Samir Nasri scored in the 76th minute just four minutes later. So Chelsea took all of the points however Spurs certainly didn't give up without a fight! Chelsea will play Spurs next in a week's time when they meet in the European Super Cup final.
