Chelsea 5-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League
Matchday 2

The Chelsea fans sang their former manager's name throughout the match

Yes that’s right, you are reading correctly, the match ended 5-3 to the Blues. It was a glorious lunchtime at Chelsea Stadium where an eight goal thriller took place. Tottenham were ready for this challenge and were boosted my the news that star midfielder Jeremy Menez was fit to play after being out for five weeks with a thigh injury. It was also a special occasion for Spurs' manager Robbie Campbell who returned to his former club in the visiting dugout. In the first half it looked as if the home side would run away with it. Wayne Rooney scored twice within the first 12 minutes and Robinho added a goal from a stunning free kick fourteen minutes later to make it 3-0. Ashley Young reduced the deficit by heading the ball into the back of the net on 43 minutes to put the game at 3-1. That was how it stayed until half-time. In the second half Chelsea started brightly and scored their 4th goal of the afternoon with Sergio Ramos’ freekick on the edge of the area on 54 minutes. Spurs never gave up and Manchester United target Jeremy Menez made it 4-2 nearing the hour mark. Berbatov’s volley past the keeper in the 72nd minute gave the North London side real hope with the score at 4-3, however Chelsea made sure of their victory when Samir Nasri scored in the 76th minute just four minutes later. So Chelsea took all of the points however Spurs certainly didn't give up without a fight! Chelsea will play Spurs next in a week's time when they meet in the European Super Cup final.

And Ronaldo as well, and Sergio Ramos also. Chelsea have a crazy squad!! Any result against them is a good result.:p

Yeah lol, that's the Chelsea team I built up during four seasons, you should see the bench and the reserves. Kaka was an unused sub!

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Birmingham City
Premier League
Matchday 3

heskey.jpg
Heskey made his debut

Spurs were comfortable 2-1 winners in their first home match of the season. Spurs rested key player Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov who were on the substitutes bench. Emile Heskey made is debut up front with fellow new signing Nicolas Anelka. Tottenham were the better side throughtout the match and they glowed with confidence, and they scored in the 12th minute. It was the perfect debut for Emile Heskey who used his strength to get past the Birmingham defence and score to make it 1-0. Heskey scored against his former club. Tottenham should of made it 2-0 before the close of the first half when Franck Queudrue tripped Ashley Young in the area in first half stoppage time. City’s goalkeeper saved the resulting spot-kick from Jonathan de Guzman. Spurs eventually got what they deserved, a two goal lead, when Menez’s 25 yard free kick cannoned into the net. Spurs were 2-0 up and in the 85th minute it was 2-1 when Birmingham’s Markus Rosenberg tapped the ball in from six yards out. It stayed that way as Spurs grabbed their second win of the new campaign.

Teams

Spurs: Robinson, Bale, Zokora (69, Dawson), King, Taylor, de Guzman, Duff, Young, Menez, Anelka, Heskey

Birmingham: Doyle, Mellis (86, Parnaby), Queudrue, Onuoha, Radomski, Konstantinou (90, Johnson), Skacel, Pearce (72, De Lucas), Boutahar, Rosenburg, O’Connor

Goals

Spurs: Heskey (12), Menez (72)

Birmingham: Radomski (85)

Bookings

Spurs: Taylor (31), Dawson (37)

Birmingham: Parnaby (57), Skacel (58), Onuoha (80)

Good win for Spurs at home against the Blues. Nice to see former Birmingham man score for Spurs. By the way Heskey must be some 37 yrs old right. Menez has impressed me a lot. Good written KUTGW.

Nah Heskey's 33 :)

I will be doing some updates today as I won't be able to for about a week or so because I'm going on holiday to Germany. ;)

Bristol Rovers 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Carling Cup
Second Round

berbatov and keane.jpg
Berbatov and Keane both got on the scoresheet

Spurs’ manager Robbie Campbell could have been accused of underestimating his League 1 opponents after fielding a clearly weakened side, and to make matters worse, he nearly payed the price. In a fairly average first half at the Memorial Stadium few chances were created however Sotiris Ninis did managed to hit the post as he looked to send Spurs into the lead. However the first goal of the match went to Rovers just as the first half was approaching its end when Bryan Hughes managed to decive Ledley King, and Hughes made it 1-0 to the home side. At half-time Campbell made an emphatic triple substitution, bringing on Berbatov, Keane and Nihat. Each of them scored in the second half with Keane levelling the sides with an exquisite volley on the edge of the area on 51 minutes and Berbatov going round the keeper to stick it in the net on 59 minutes. Nihat confirmed Spurs’ position in the next round when he scored a tap-in on 61 minutes. Spurs go through to the next round once again due to their manager’s tactics.

Teams

Bristol Rovers: Barrett, Pipe, Gilbert, Doherty, Robinson (72, Hall), Chadwick, Flynn (62, Ayling), Clegg, Hughes, Fagan, Hayes

Spurs: Robinson, Stalteri, Bale, King, Young-Pyo, Young, Duff, Ninis, Nihat (45, Kehl), Keane (45, Heskey), Berbatov (45, Bent)

Scorers

Bristol Rovers: Hughes (44)

Spurs: Keane (51), Berbatov (59), Nihat (61)

Bookings

Bristol Rovers: Gilbert (90), Hayes (90)

Spurs: King (45)
